We love Morgan for its quintessentially British approach to motoring charm, and while the automaker has recently ventured into more modern machinery with the launch and development of its Aero line, it's the classic Plus 8 and Roadster that have stood the test of time, having first been released back in 1968.

Of course, classic cars are all well and good for those who covet the joy of driving, just so long as it's kept to weekends and sunny days, but there's always room for tinkering and improvement to bring things up to modern levels of performance and reliability. With that in mind, we suggest you scroll down below to watch Jay Leno put a hot-rod Morgan Plus 8 through its paces with its builder, Jason Len of XKs Unlimited, along for the ride.

Man I live by the Morgan dealer/store/mechanic thing in Santa Monica and I find myself just sitting there staring through the window at these cars. What I would do to just to ride in one.

"Leno drives a V8-powered Morgan Plus 8 hot rod" Uh, didn't Morgan Plus 8's always have V8s anyways?

Why ohh Why do people in the US always f***k up classic cars by butchering them. Why have a classic car and put an ugly roll bar over it......

The guy said it\'s a barely street-legal race car,and to track it, you need to have a roll bar.

Why is Jay saying he thinks it's strange Morgan waited so long before they put a V8 in their cars? The 8 in Plus 8 is for 8 cylinders, and they started making the Plus 8 in 1968.

the other folks he mentions putting V8's in their cars was 4 or 5 years earlier than 1968
