Polestar is getting ready to deliver its first production car, the Volvo S60 Polestar. Letting the S60 stretch its legs, Polestar Racing driver Robert Dahlgren took the blue sedan from Barcelona, Spain to Jokkmokk, Sweden - stopping for wet-weather testing in Germany along the way.

Dahlgren narrates the journey of the "pilot project" that has 350 horsepower and around 368 pound-feet of torque, and will perhaps be the first in an era of hardcore Volvo production cars. It will go on sale in Australia this Summer, with other markets "under investigation." While we non-Aussies wait with fingers crossed, there's a video below to enjoy.

It's definitely not the M3 fighter the concept was but it's a strong step in the right direction, definite competitor to Audi's S line. Volvo was smart and they knew a 500 hp $70k S60 is not something customers would buy, they have to work their image up to that level and hopefully this is the first step to a sportier Volvo

I look at all the excite Volvo has created with this single model, and hope they finally wake up and do something right with mode models

What is this?!?! The concept S60 Polestar had 508-Horsepower and a BMW M3 competitor, not this watered down 350-Horsepower, semi-skimp version. I don't think this "Super S60" would outperform an average BMW 335xi Sedan. Either that's saying a lot about BMW or a little about Volvo. Don't get me wrong, this is a step in the right direction but this is a far cry from what was advertised...

Drama much? The one advertised it was a concept.

No drama at all. The demand for the high-performance concept is the only reason why this production version is making it to the showroom. That's why I'm disappointed that the production version is far front what we saw...

the last Volvo i owned was an 850R and it was fantastic....since then i've moved to Audis for the past 10 years....if the S60 Polestar comes to the US, i would be very tempted to go back to Volvo.

I own an S60R and a S40 T4. This s60 looks amazing. Pretty cool numbers, not sure about the wheels i'd prefer the ones that the concept showed.

i agree. much prefer the concept wheels! i also think the Concept looked wider and more aggressive...perhaps it had different body panels?

the bodykit isn't the same as the concepts. There are differences - mostly around the front fascia.

Uugghh. Talk about bait and switch. So they develop a real M3 fighter with 510 HP and parade it around the world. Then put into production a car that has about 25 HP and 20 torque more than the regular Volvo T6 R-Design? FAIL!!! I love how in the video at no point do they talk about what they actually changed in the car. They \'looked\' at everything and made sure it all worked together, which it obviously did already. Is it even still a manual transmission?
