With Mother's Day coming up, we're always looking for new gift ideas to celebrate the occasion, but hot laps around a track might not be the best suggestion for Darius Khashabi. In a video posted on YouTube, Khashabi straps his mom into the passenger seat of his C6 Corvette Z06 for some laps around Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon Raceway) at "60 percent" with comical results.

Now this isn't the first time Mama Khashabi has gotten seat time in her son's car around a track, as his YouTube page shows him pulling a similar stunt – with similar results – around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last year. Scroll down for the video, but know that the action really gets going at around the 1:40 mark.

It was uploaded 6 days ago based on the youtube data. The old video you are referring to is the lap of laguna seca of this same woman and son, which was uploaded 1 year ago.

My mother used to act like this whenever she was in a car even at normal speeds around town. She wouldn't drive herself on the freeway nor let anyone drive on the freeway when she was in the car. I was driving at 40 mph in a 35 once, light traffic, light throttle and braking responses, smooth steering inputs, and she got so panicked that she opened the car door screaming that she had to get out of the car. Clutching at her seat belt, aimlessly stomping at non existent brake pedals. Nothing gives you confidence in your mother like having one with pathetic panic attacks for no reason. Driving her around actually mad me so frustrated that i really thought about wrecking on purpose.

Mine was like that too, but not as bad. She seemed to be afraid that I was going to run into the back of someone, even when I was moving so slowly that I could stop almost instantly. Funny thing, when I was a kid, speed seemed to be her main complaint with my dad's driving, mine was waiting too long to brake. I had her at 115 once in my old Trans Am, and that was about as fast as I would want to go, and she had no real problems, but 65 on a local freeway in other vehicles and she was pumping the invisible brake pedal, and trying to grab something to hold onto. I used to creep up the speed to see what it would get to before she would say, "Ok, that's too fast!", and as she got older, it went up and up.

@mnoswad1 & others When you become the parent of an overconfident, exuberant young driver please blog about your in-car experiences. It will delight our senior senses and I promise to not say, "I told you so" - if my child has not yet caused my early demise as a passenger in a car wreck. ;-)

Once you become a mom, I guess that gene kicks in. My mom came down to visit us about a year ago, and I drove her to the store. And, as expected, she fussed at me for speeding while I was accelerating to meet the 50 mph speed limit. Mind you, I had barely hit 40 when she started. Part of life, I guess.
