Edmunds reports the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan will bow at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show next January. As expected, the redesigned luxury four-door will reportedly offer buyers an all-wheel drive option for the first time as well as a more refined interior. The news that the Genesis will show up at Detroit comes courtesy of Brandon Ramirez, senior group manager of product planning with Hyundai Motor America, though the executive stopped short of serving up any more details.

Edmunds points to "other sources" as saying the Genesis will receive a styling update in the same vein as the automaker's other Fluidic Sculpture design products. That may mean we'll see hints of the HCD-14 Genesis Concept in the final product, though the influence is likely to be pretty subtle if the spy shots above are any indication. The new model will also take a stab at improving both the machine's ride and handling as Hyundai continues to attempt to lure buyers away from brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

What's up with all the hate? Hyundai has invested in a proper RWD architecture unlike Lincoln or Acura. Their vehicles continue to improve with each generation. If the Genesis is not in BMW territory, they are at least headed in the right direction.

People just tend to hate certain brands for no apparent reason. Baffling, really.

Thank-you. Solid Joke. The Detriot Auto Show was just 3 months ago. On that note I can't want for the 2019 Genesis with a mag-lev feature.

"... The new model will also take a stab at improving both the machine's ride and handling as Hyundai continues to attempt to lure buyers away from brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. ..." Hyundai, will never, never be able to compete with BMW and M-B! If they want to compete in this segment, they must come up with a new brand that can possibly be considered upscale enough to compete in this segment! As it stands, they can't even compete with Acura, Buick, Cadillac, Infiniti, Lincoln, etc. - sorry, that's just the way it is! They can try all they want, but they will not be considered in these segments with a Hyundai badge - they only need to look at VW and their failed attempt at moving up-market with the Phaeton to see that they are following the wrong path!

That's why Genesis and Equus have a different Y-shape badge that doesn't look like the typical Hyundai one. Smart move, different image but save the cost of extra dealer network.

Read Edmunds.com' customer reviews, or any other auto comments in this class. All the Hyundai Genesis comments are from old BMW, Mercedes, Infiniti and Acura buyers. Not any from Buick or Caddy (whose mean age is still close to 60, though they are trying hard). Anytime you can pick up an R-Spec for about 40K with 400 horsepower, you are going to give the BMW 3-5 series with a straight four and pleather seats at the same 40K, a competitor. It has already happened. Not to mention all the other options and better warranty. First it was Acura, Lexus and Infiniti can't compete, they did. You may argue that Caddy could not complete, they did. Now Hyundai has put out a model since 2009, and the new 2014, that is taking sales away.

Hyundai has been on a roll with their styling lately, but I fear that all of that is going to come to an end with this next-gen Genesis sedan. Hyundai's concept cars have been point to a rather strange direction in styling lately, and I fear that this car will be the first car to hit production using that direction.

Well Hyundai design is being overseen by Peter Schreyer now, so I doubt he\'ll let anything hideos creep out.

I was about to say that it looks more like an Audi in that picture. I think they brought Schreyer over because the KIAs were outshining the main brand of Hyundai.

Is that so, well there's hope that the next Genesis Coupe will be less of a hot stinking mess. No more: - fake hood vents - gaping deep sea fish grille - 'performance gauges' stuck to the centre stack out of view of the driver - mish mash of buttons on centre stack - horrible looking/feeling shifter
