An instance of road rage turned mortally dangerous in Beverly Hills, CA, recently, when an incident between a cyclist and a BMW driver took a scary turn in front of a rolling security camera.

LA Weekly reports that the person on the bicycle and the driver of the 2008 BMW 328i in the video had some kind of altercation, resulting in the cyclist punching the driver. The driver then followed the biker to an alley on the 9000 block of Wilshire Blvd and, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department, "Intentionally rammed the bicyclist with his vehicle pinning him to a metal rolling trash bin."

That the act was intentional is clearly evident in the video footage below, captured on a security camera. Police have published the video in the hopes of tracking down the driver, who is said to be in his mid-30s with dark hair, dark eyes and a thin build. BMW owners across the country can thank him – for reinforcing certain stereotypes – by helping to turn him in. Do your part, Bimmer Nation.

Hm. I'm sure it won't be hard to track down a white 3 series in Beverly Hills. They must be pretty rare.

actually the rep of cyclists around many parts isn't much better. this is just the natural result of d-bag interaction. Which is another reason why every vehcile on the road shouls be a 70's brougham. Everyones too relaxed to be agressive and even if you are feeling murderous the drivers turn around would have needed another 7-8 points.

Except that most cyclists are actually car drivers too. Go figure, thinking cyclists won't do what car drivers do every day...running lights, stop signs, etc. Besides, most cyclists probably could care less about the road ragers these days....it's the ones to busy texting to look up that you're going to worry about over someone who thinks they need to get where they're going 5 seconds sooner.

Man, I got stuck in traffic today because of two fools getting into it and blocking traffic. Road rage is such a waste of everybody's time: these two morons, the other people on the road they may have delayed/inconvenienced/put at jeopardy before entering the alley, the cops who now have to look for this dink... I'm sick of it.

".... tracking down the driver, who is said to be in his mid-30s with dark hair, dark eyes and a thin build." That's pretty much any BMW 3-series owner... don't worry about the damage to the car though. It's a lease.

I just watched the Top Gear episode where they talk about how the 3 series outsells the Ford Mondeo. Yes, it is a great car to drive, but it's now the go-to car for lazy rich people too. I feel bad for the good BMW drivers. My brother and roommate have a 3 series and they're responsible drivers, but the number of terrible I'm-above-the-rules BMW drivers outnumber them. I can relate in a way. I've got a GSX-R600, I've never had the front wheel off the pavement, and I gear up every single time I go out. But when 95% of other crotch-rocket riders are out in sneakers and shorts and revving their engines at red lights, everyone assumes I'm an uber-douche too :(.

No, they just don't think they should have to pay attention to the road rather then text , talk , or watch a movie while driving...

I live in a rural area far from "traffic". For some reason cyclist have chosen this area to drive to with their bikes and use for training. I used to ride myself years ago, but I did it in an area that had bike lanes, by myself, and not at rush hour. Cars were just not a problem. These guys don't bother me personallly, but they come out in packs of up to 25 or so. They string out together, Tour-de-France style, to gain aerodynamic advantage. This means they are IMPOSSIBLE TO PASS on winding roads. So, I will sit in my house looking down on the road and see them huffing up the hill in front of my house, with 50-75 cars crawling behind them. It's insane. It'll be rush hour where people are trying to get home from work or Saturday when people want to head to town to shop and these guys think their hobby is more important. And they don't even live here! Nobody who did would be caught dead in those outfits, lol.

I find a lot of them to be arrogant self-absorbed idiots, but what amounts to attempted vehicular homicide is unacceptable even for them.

Except for the fact that MANY car guys are cyclists as well. At least half of my friends ride regularly and most are part of the automotive press. Also I don't think I've ever met a pro driver that doesn't spend some time training on a bike.

i'm not going to defend the d-bag in the BMW......but bicyclists can often be the most offensive, annoying, and disruptive companions on the roads. here in new york city, they have taken on a completely offensive personality....cutting people off, hitting pedestrians, running stop signs and lights......they are an embarassment to all commuters. The BMW is clearly over the top for using a huge car to hit a bicyclist....but the bicyclist is a d-bag for punching the driver. I'm sure there's also more to the story than we know...

A bull wouldn't need to use his car. A bull would have the balls to get out and use his fists. A coward uses his car.

Bulls have hooves, not fists, and most do not engage in boxing. Trust me, I'm from Texas.

Well Karl, perhaps. On the other hand, if the guy in the car was quite a bit smaller but still wanted to deliver a good a*s kicking to the supposed idiot on the bike, using his car would be more efficient than using his face to redden the guy's knuckles... God made man in all sizes and shapes. Colt made them equal. So did BMW... :-)
