Due to a lack of funding, Chrysler closed the doors to its Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills, MI back in December, but it sounds like the facility will be open next month for one last hurrah. According to a report in the Detroit Free Press, the Chrysler Museum will be open to the public one last time on June 8 for the annual Chrysler Employee Motorsport Association car show.

While the car show will take place in the museum's parking lot from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM on June 8 with a theme dedicated to muscle cars past and present, all attendees will be able to be among the last people to tour the museum – with free admission. The museum is known for housing some of the more important production and concept cars from Chrysler's history. Check out the car show's flyer for more information.

I live just a couple miles away, yet I've never been there. I was overseas when I found out this closed. I will definitely be there, it is in my calendar already. One of a kind opportunity here.

You're telling me Sergio can't scrape together the money to keep this place open? This place that honors the heritage of the company that's currently floating the rest of his operations?! For shame...

It can\'t be cheap. If the attendance levels were lousy, why not shut down the daily operations and only open it up occasionally for special events?

Chrysler...WTF? This is pathetic. But, Greenfield Village is now open for the season with plenty of Ford themed stuff B-slapping ya. Keep it up. I don't think you will be getting a third bailout.

I was there back in February of 2012 and took my time enjoying every exhibit. I believe it only took between 1-2 hours. In that time I was only one of four non employees in the place. Nice but small. Sad to see it close. Hope it's not closed forever, and it would be nice to see them loan cars out to other museums from time to time. If you love cars, you should really check out the Gilmore Auto Museum in/near Kalamazoo. That place was absolutely amazing and huge.

Really liked that museum. Some neat historic cars and items in there. VERY sad to see it go ....

I shot a TV show there once. It is nice but very small and the selection of cars and exhibits was totally underwhelming considering the long and innovative history of Chrysler. I think the brand deserves better but if you are struggling to eat, you don't buy designer clothes.

Is there an ME 4-12 in the museum? I'd make the trip just to see that.
