On the heels of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport being stripped of its World's Fastest Car title by Guinness World Records comes this tease from the French automaker, hinting that it will soon "share the latest example of exceptional Bugatti performance" over the next few days its Facebook page.

The timing of the announcement is interesting. Even though the current Super Sport boasts a quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 developing 1,200 horsepower that pushes the two-seater to an unrestricted top speed of 267 mph, today's competitors are knocking at kicking down Bugatti's door. The much lighter and more agile Hennessey Venom GT (twin-turbo 7.0-liter V8 rated at 1,244 horsepower) recently ran to nearly 266 mph – and it still hasn't fully stretched its legs. And then there is the Shelby SuperCars Ultimate Aero (twin-turbo 6.9-liter V8 rated at 1,300 horsepower) that will hit 256 mph.

So, we have to ask, what exactly will Bugatti reveal this week? Is this another variant of the Super Sport, sans its electronic limiter for a boosted top end? Is this the rumored 1,600 horsepower Super Veyron, which we first heard about many months ago? Or, will Bugatti finally be revealing a production version of its 16C Galibier sedan? Let us know what you think in our comments section, below.

This. There were even some low resolution pics of it in the WRE livery, but with odd orange paint streak things coming back from the front lights.

I really don't get the idea anymore. What I love about Bugatti is the rocksolidness of the car, no matter the speed goes. I think much of the car reviews have already said it best that anybody can build 1000hp car, but it's a different thing to build a car that's meant to have 1000hp and be a production car.

Yes just what the world needs, another over priced overpowered toy for the ULTRA rich. Fastest production vehical? Why don't they go for MOST PRACTICAL car? Most ECONOMIC car? Best car on the road that REAL PEOPLE CAN BUY? I would love to have one of these, SO I COULD FIND A PERSON WITH LOSTS OF MONEY AND NO BRAINS TO SELL IT TO.

        1. Your struggle to master the English language clearly indicates why you are not among this "ULTRA rich" elite that you so despise. 2. There *are* companies that do that. Go buy a Tata if that's what you're looking for. 3. Jealousy will not better your life situation; only self-improvement can do that.

Why should we bother to go to the moon if only the super rich can go there right now? ...because then eventually every one can.

I understand the hennesey is a "production car" however I dont think its fair to consider it for the tests anyway, he is just modifying a lotus body and stuffing his stuff inside it. sure he is doing major body work, buts he is starting with a lotus

I agree with you PJ. I was thinking the same thing. It may be heavily modified but at the end of the day, it did get its start from the Lotus. When Hennessey builds HIS OWN car from scratch and builds at least 50 of them per year, then I'll consider it a production car.

Do you have any idea what that would cost? That's why he uses the Lotus, to save the cost of building a from scratch chassis that would have to be crashed ad nauseum to appease the NHTSA. That's why it was "based" on the Lotus, otherwise this awesome piece of machinery (Venom GT) wouldn't exist. With the amount of engineering that went into that car, to discount it because it was based on a "Lotus" is ridiculous. It's been awhile, but the only thing that I remember being untouched was the dash. I'm sure if he had the start up capital in hand when he started, he would have preferred and ground up creation.

Research the Venom, that car has very little left of the original Lotus left in it. This argument is so tired.

Its also not considered to be a production car. To date there are supposedly only 7 Venoms that have been produced. Homologation requirements for being called the fastest production car in the world is a minimum of 50 units available to purchase for the general public. The car also has to be identical to what is available to the general public. In this case of the Veyron Super Sport having its worlds fastest production car title taken away for the sole reason that they put an electronic speed limiter set at 415km/h while the particular bare carbon/orange world record edition they used to set the top speed record did not have this limiter and thus enabled it to hit 431.072 km/h. I wonder what the 4 other owners of these identical Super Sport editions are thinking now that the record was taken away on a mere technicality.

Run what you bring and Hennesey clocked a faster time. Regardless of all the details its faster. Track time it on a course and maybe we have a different leader??

I totally agree with this, but hennessey is still a jerk for getting Bugatti disqualified, knowing they don't have enough cars to even qualify. I can't respect shenanigans.
