Ashley Rodriguez has a thing for the BMW E28. The amateur train photographer has owned over 15 of the cars in her brief lifetime, and says she's attracted to the old 5 Series because of how rare they are. All told, she's owned every variation of the E28 with the exception of the 2.4td, and the crew from Petrolicious recently stopped by to train their lenses on her most recent acquisition: a lovely M535i. The site's latest video, Rare Things, takes a closer look at just what draws Rodriguez to the E28 and how her passion for the cars has evolved over the years.

As usual, Petrolicious serves up plenty of gorgeous footage of the vintage German sedan, and anyone who's ever harbored an obsession over any one particular model can certainly hear a few chords ring true in Rodriguez's words. Check out the clip below to see what we mean.

These were spectacularly good cars. And I like the round headlights. Replace the dim US seal-beams with as set of Hellas using H4 bulbs, and you had serious light.

I propose a game: every time she says "E28" you take a shot

You can't do what she does unless in an area of the world that doesn't experience freezing cold. Ice and snow would kill the fun of owning this as a primary vehicle the way she does. I always think of all the cars I would want to own if I didn't have to deal with northeast winters. This winter sucked in particular. Last winter was gift from Mother Nature.

"there will always be newer cars, but the repo man wont come for me" this statement proves she thinks every new bmw kills her bmw. Which is true but just can't afford it.

GREAT generation of BMW. I love how that 5 is smaller, considerably smaller at that, than a modern 3. Many years back I had an uncle that wanted to get rid of his (bought new), and to this day I regret not jumping at the opportunity to buy it.

So why don\'t you post up pics of yourself so we can judge how hot you are. On second thought let\'s not. Let\'s stick to cars.

I signed up on their site. If you like older cars it is sweet. My favorite video to date is the Lancia, and I've never owned one!

I remember E28 M5 in US. It cames as M5 and I think M535i came to US as gray market. But the M5 w/ individual throttle bodies were one of a great intrigue. And of course, this car was designed by no other than Marcello Gandini. I wish he designed more Lamborghinis.
