As long as there are sacred cows, there will be heretics sharpening their knives in anticipation of the butchering. When Nissan first carved into the mighty GT-R to create the Juke-R, onlookers quickly fell into two camps: those who thought the plan was sheer genius and those who believed cannibalizing a GT-R to feed a Juke was a new brand of obscenity. We fell firmly in the former camp. Now Severn Valley Motorsport is looking to take that theme one step further by shoving the go-faster bits from a GT-R into a Nissan Qashqai. That noise you hear? It's us cackling like mad men.

While we can't say for certain, we're guessing the project should yield the world's fastest Qashqai thanks in no small part to the twin-turbocharged VR38DETT V6 engine from the GT-R. Throw in the all-wheel-drive system and the little CUV should change demeanor dramatically. We can't wait to see this thing in action.

Size-wise is the Qashqai bigger or smaller than our USDM Rogue? Or is it simply the same vehicle under a different name with slightly different styling?

it is smaller than the rogue, but there is a stretch version of the qashqai which is a seven seater which is bigger

It's slightly smaller dimensionally, but uses the same underpinnings.

BORING BLEAK BLAND PLASTIC LIFELESS CHEAP SLOW UGLY MASS-PRODUCED UNORIGINAL I call these the "traffic cars" since these slow-ass vehicles are usually the culprit. These are the cars you have to honk at when there is an advance green. These are the cars that refuse to turn right on red. These are the cars that go 5km/h under the speed limit. These are the cars who brake WITH NO REASON on the highway. Ok rant over!

and now we know none of you two have driven one, because it uses a 2.0 liter gas engine and 1.5 and 1.6 turbo diesel, if they are slow then the new CR-V that uses a 2.0 liter and soon to be 1.6 diesel would also be slow.

Meh I just dont understand why they can't do something different. I know like 100 people who are in the "arts" yet creativity is at its all time low. Companies like Jaguar, Ford, etc keep things interesting in my opinion. When I was a kid (early 90s) I used to LOVE the preludes, 2door accords, crx's, wrx, supras, and even the old hyundai accent...they had character, and looked pretty good!

I don't like the way the Juke looks -- but at least it has some flair. The Qashqai (and Rogue) are some of the most boring looking vehicles on the planet.

Between their ugly cars and the Versa, Nissan is quickly associating themselves with the loser crowd. Pretty much what I think when I see one.

the rouge and qashqai uses the same platfom but the qashqai is smaller, and of course they will look bland to newer models manufacture by other competitors, because they are both old CUVs and will be replace soon with newer models.

First of all, just how do you pronounce "Qashqai" and does the name actually mean something or is the name made up like I believe "Camry" or "Altima" was? Second, even if the Qashqai doesn't exude high style or excitement, it's a huge improvement over the Rogue sold here in the US. And third, who cares what it looks like if it has the guts of a GT-R under the sheet metal with about 550 hp powering all 4 wheels?

What does the Ford Escape (Maverick in Europe) have to do with the Nissan Qashqai? The posted story doesn't even mention Ford or the Escape. And what does either of your comments have to do with the core of the posted story about Nissan using GT-R engines and AWD systems in their Qashqai body shells, like they did with their Juke previously? You like diesels. Fine. However, you should only comment about your diesel opinions on relevant stories that are actually about diesels, otherwise just look confused.

"Ford are now playing catch up with Kuga diesels" What are you talking about? Ford have used the 2 litre Duratorq in the Kuga for the past five years.
