Think that the new McLaren P1 supercar seems pretty tremendous after following its launch in Geneva this year? We do, too. And now, after seeing the reaction the ultra-performance Mac has gotten from McLaren Formula One driver Checo (Sergio) Perez, we're even more excited for our chance at some seat time.

In this new video, Perez takes a few hot laps of the famous Top Gear test track at the Dunsfold Aerodrome in England. (Let the new Stig rumors commence.) The P1 in the film manages to look pretty lovely, even in full-body camouflage and, more importantly, draws some rave reviews from a driver that knows from quick cars. Follow on below for the full video.

The P1 took some time to get used to it's looks. The more I look at it, the more I like it. Looks great in motion. Still doesn't look as good as a McLaren F1 though.

Even in camo I love the lines. In my dreams, I would buy this car over the other three.

It would be nice to see this car in a nice full color, instead of the two-tone shown by the concept and the 1 prototype at the Geneva show. I bet it would look stunning in all black, or all forest green.

I'm with you, it seems like a 14 year old's idea for a Hot Wheels in the 90's.

I dont know why youre getting downvotes... The wing and the side are definitely the ugliest parts of this car, and Ferrari came up with a much more elegant solution for both...

Knowing what I know about Top Gear, since the P1 is about as British as it gets, it will be #1 when they do their power lap.

I'm not going to deny that Top Gear can be biased, or even do things for the sake of entertainment/controversy, when it comes to car reviews I think they generally tell it like it is. If you remember, they said the MP4-12 was great, but boring and too tame, that it lacked soul. The only really criminal review I can remember in recent times was comparing the Evo MR to the STI, when the STI and regular EVO are the comparable models. What was so funny about that review was Jeremy said the STI sucked, yet he then said you shouldn't buy the MR, just the regular version... and then the STI was faster around the track.

Queue contractual obligation to promote the car for the company you drive for. Not like you would get any real information here. Try this if you want a real driver's opinion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4Ws_Bp7WYA

It\'s probably quicker than the McLaren Perez drives for work, considering the results last weekend. I love to see some rocket red shirts on a Sunday afternoon but its not looking too likely very soon.

I am a bit disappointed that this design is their proposal for a new F1. I am sure mechanically must be stunning but aesthetically is far short from what I expected Mclaren to bring when they brought back the F1. I honestly like LaFerrari much more by far and the Pagani too. The P1 is the ugly duck out of this 3.
