The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.

In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.

It's called burned out bulbs. Common MAINTAINENCE problem. Leave a fingerprint on the bulb, it develops a hot spot when lit, and burns out.

Hey seekthetruth123, its not the people assembling the junk CHINA-GM sells, it's the junk they buy from CHINA. Rememger the CEO said 7 out of every 10 car have a direct link to CHINA. These recalls prove that.

Its amazing how many of you are uneducated, uninformed mindless morons that do not have a clue what you are talking about. What you call a bailout was actually loans that are already paid back to the taxpayers and the portion of stock owned by the taxpayers have been bought back by GM. Yes GM is alive and well and the Union you're talking about took plenty of concessions to help GM survive and we still have our jobs because of it. As a matter of fact, our membership has grown considerably because of the jobs created by GM by bringing a large portion of manufacturing back to America where it belongs. We have good, negotiated benefits and wages and lives because of the UAW , a good share of you have benefits because of the UAW as well because of the labor movement, the labor movement brought you vacation pay, weekends, paid holidays, 40 hour work weeks, overtime pay and many other things you would not have if not for the labor movement, so I guess I would have to say your welcome! And as far as Obama goes, If his administration had not helped GM out, the trickle effect would be far more reaching into your communities where our factories contribute to many jobs. 50,000 Auto worker jobs eliminated would affect multi millions of jobs in the US. Know what your talking about before you let bullshit flow from your mouth.

Hmm - must be very intermittent. Five years and @ 130K miles and haven't even had a single bulb burn out, let alone stop working.
