Jaguar continues to think well outside of the box when it comes to marketing it's new F-Type, now furthering plans for a short film which highlights the sexy roadster. Desire, featuring Damian Lewis (star of the hit series Homeland), Jordi Mollà (unforgettable in Bad Boys II) and Shannyn Sossamon (that girl you had a crush on for like a month in 2002 after you rented A Knight's Tale), Jaguar is clearly pulling out all the stops for this one. Well, nearly all the stops anyway – the "Ridley Scott Associates" billing isn't quite the same has having the man himself, if we're splitting hairs.

The short video below is still just a trailer for Desire – the full film will make its debut sometime in April, we're told. The sketched out plotlines tell us that Lewis' character Clark, "...delivers cars for a living, running into trouble after a chance encounter with a mysterious, young woman (Sossamon) in the middle of a lawless desert." The car looks good, at any rate.

Call us crazy, but the Desire trailer feels an awful lot like a spoof on the cool-but-overly-serious short films that BMW has done in this vein, already. Maybe we're just being cynical? Tell us what you think in comments after watching the clip.

Casper Delaney, Producer, Ridley Scott Associates comments:

"After weeks and months of working on the script and developing the film
with Jaguar, it's fantastic to see it come to life."

The trailer gives a hint to what viewers can expect from the short film, which
will be released in April.

Damian Lewis commented:

"When Jaguar approached me about the F-TYPE 'Desire' film I was really
intrigued. I then got to read the script and decided it was definitely a project I
wanted to be a part of. Working with the director Adam Smith from Ridley
Scott Associates, it promises to be an adventure. Jaguar cars have played some iconic roles in film for many years and I'm looking forward to being the first to drive the F-TYPE in film."

The film tells the story of Clark (Lewis), who delivers cars for a living, running into trouble after a chance encounter with a mysterious, young woman (Sossamon) in the middle of a lawless desert. Directed by Adam Smith, this is a story of betrayal, retribution, passion and greed.

"Shannyn Sossamon (that girl you had a crush on for like a month in 2002 after you rented A Knight's Tale)" whoa, how did you know?!

One thing that made the E-type unique was that upon arrival, all of the fussing over stats and performance figures just fell away as if they didn't matter. All that mattered was that you were witnessing a beautiful machine that was truly fun to drive. Driving one was actually a unique, pleasant experience. You couldn't help but smile as you snicked through the gears. Women would actually step forward to ask, "What car is that?" And they all genuinely seemed to want a ride in it, or least wondered what it would be like. You could actually see the glint in their eyes. This would drive all the other brand fanboys insane with envy. They would spout off their stats, "Well this car is faster, and that other car is better!" Blah blah blah. The angry look on their faces, an anger they only imposed on themselves, as you pulled away was worth half the price. This car could be powered by a 160hp 2.0L hybrid 4-banger and do 0-60 in a paltry 8 seconds, and it would still get more looks than anything else in the luxury sports car class. For those that ask why would you buy one when the Porsche will handle better and the Corvette will be faster around a track, the answer is simple: Because Jaguar. ;-)

You should never watch TV or Movies again.

        You mean Daniel Day Lewis.

Seyth, nobody had a crush on Shannyn Sossamon. We just kept wondering how she was getting work. And also why she's in seemingly every other Health Ledger movie?
Have they revised the silly pricing for these? $92k base for a V8 S is a joke.

I like the car but the clip sort of reminds me of a rip off from "The Transporter" franchise. They should have got Jason Statham -- then you might have something.

        @Smooth Motor
I like the car too, but this short clip shows that this "movie" is technically closer in premise to "Vanishing Point", a movie about an auto delivery man, driving a car to its new owner, who runs into some unexpected trouble with several "colorful" people. While similar, "The Transporter" was about a "delivery" man who takes "packages" to "colorful" people and gets into trouble with them when he breaks his own rules and looks at what's inside the "package". If this was a pure action "movie", I would agree with your Jason Statham idea, but the tone of this "movie" was clearly in the action/comedy genre and Statham has rarely done comedy well. As for Damian Lewis, if he's using his "American" accent (Band of Brothers, Homeland), then it's a drama; if he's using his native British accent, then it's most likely a comedy and he's using the British accent here.

      Old chick car.

I love this. Damien reminds me so much of Steve McQueen, and Steve McQueen owned an XKSS and an E-Type. So with Damien inside this new F-Type, I feel as if it's somewhat nostalgic.

Love Jags and Ridley Scott. Excited for the F-Type but... Cringed a lot during that trailer. Hopefully the finished film will work.
