A young girl led police on a lengthy low-speed chase through South Carolina and into Charlotte, North Carolina Monday night. Police say the 12-year-old girl fought with her father earlier in the evening and slipped from their South Carolina home after he fell asleep. From there, the pre-teen stole a pickup truck from the local VFW parking lot with the intent of driving to a relative's house in Fort Mill. Officers originally spotted the girl thinking she was a drunk driver and a chase ensued. The girl reached speeds of up to 70 mph and roamed Interstate 85 and 77 until police finally boxed her in and brought the scene to a stop.

No charges have been filed as of yet, though some reports indicate the girl was taken to a local hospital with a broken finger. It's unclear where that injury originates from. You can watch a local news report on the incident below for more information.

Correction: Gaffney police (where she stole truck) haven't filed charges. But CharMeckPD (or maybe NCHP) have charged her with no operator's license, failure to maintain lane control, failure to heed blue lights and siren and impeding traffic by slow speed. "...the girl reached speeds of up to 70 mph...and sped down Charlotte's major interstates..." 70 mph is NOT flying. I hit 70 easily and haven't ever had a problem.

"I THANK TAS CRAZY" LMFAO especially the guy's comment saying she should be a mechanic. Theres no one more southern than damn South Carolinians, and no worse a driver either. They even drive worse than Floridians. Im from Augusta myself, which right on the border of Georgia and South Carolina for you geographically inept, and there is no one that is more southern, corn bred and country fed than the people just over the border from me.

I can't stand when people stereotype a state. But I'm also right over the other border in NC (Charlotte actually) and I totally agree hahaha. Sorry to all my friends south of the border!

I think it's a close race between Alabama and SC. I'm on the border of Alabama and Georgia, and once you get into Alabama the quality of drivers drops ten fold. And it's not that good to start with in Georgia (or the rest of the country for that matter).

MS has y'all beat to death. They JUST ratified the 13th amendment. And if the new state clerk hadn't found it in the stacks, they STILL wouldn't have ratified it. http://www.mediaite.com/online/mississippi-officially-ratifies-13th-amendment-banning-slavery-148-years-later/

How 'lengthy' are we talking here? I realize the girl being 12 and all you have to take some care in how to stop her but I hope the time period was not too excessive. And I hope she received some help.
