There are a number of reasons why my wife and I still live the kid-free lifestyle. While we enjoy the broods that our friends and siblings are busy creating, we're plenty happy with our choice. But then, sometimes, a moment happens when one of us will think, "It'd be cool to have a kid for X reason." Juan Barnett from DC Auto Geek gave me one of those moments with this video.

It's a moment I've never thought of before, when a child says his or her first "Vroom, Vroom." It's not the consonants and vowels coming from Juan's son or how he puts his weight on the roof of that little, yellow toy Corvette that gets me, but rather what the moment might be: when a child gets bitten by the car bug and begins a life of auto enthusiasm. It could also be Juan's heartstring-tugging style of video editing, too.

It's certainly not guaranteed that Juan's little one will grow up to surf Craigslist with him or strike out on a father-son cross-country road trip in some project car the two of them restored together, but this video must surely give him hope for that, which helps make all those dirty diapers, sleepless nights and food thrown at the wall worth it.

I remember teaching my daughters about centrifugal force during cornering, and how carburetors worked. They\'re 32 and 30 now and will still remind me of those times. They both prefer manual transmissions, too! :)

Wow. The psychics of racing - that'll do it. Glad to see you kept the flame alive with your two kids. Happy Motoring to your entire family.

How about when your four-year-old decides his new favorite color is the color of your new car.

Most of the cars I've owned at 'bright' - plenty of yellows and oranges. Kids do love bright colors.

That video hits way to close to home. Proud father of 2 year old who is in the vroom vroom stage. We just finished playing with Tonka trucks and watching YouTube videos of construction trucks.

We haven't made the jumps to the big colorful trucks, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. Glad you liked it.

Awesome video. We just found out a week ago that we're having a boy. I can't wait to teach little Jack, about cars. In the mean time, I'm loading up on Top Gear :)

Being a father of 2 young kids, there is nothing more amazing than children. However, having children is the most difficult job in the world. There is nothing harder than being a parent, not even close.

Thanks, Trish. I was a blast to make. First video I've ever done really. Hope to compile more in the future, with and without babies.

Our son's first proper word was 'Car', and infact it's his favourite word as he points to the cars as we walk along. So proud :-) And it's not just for Dads. With a wife who is just as much as a petrol head, both of us are happy. Next word is Alpina.

My wife has slowly learned to love automotive. Doubt she knows what Alpina is, but she enjoyed driving an 11-sec sedan for a year.

All kids should learn as much as you can teach them about cars at an early age. Even your girls. They can always take care of themselves if they get stranded with car trouble. How many girls know how to change a tire???

Very true. Even knowing the basics can really go along way. It also helps in the event you have a mechanic trying to up-sell you on items you really don't need.

I hope that when I have kids to see a moment like that. My best friend just had his first a year ago and it awesome to see him grow.

They grow up fast. We have lots of friends who don't have kids but always enjoy playing with ours. Cheers.

Hah, the first car sounds out of my boy was a high pitched F1 approximation... That's what we get for watching F1 for breakfast 20 Sundays a year :)
