Dodge has just confirmed that it will be bringing its newest Dart variant, the Dart GT, to Detroit next week, but we're still in the dark about when we'll see a truly hotted-up SRT4 version. But now, by way of the rumormill anyway, we've got at least one proposed, potentially Dodge-based rendering to light our way.

Seen here is what would appear to be a design sketch of the SRT4 Dart. Obviously the image that has surfaced is of rather low-resolution, but there's at least some evidence to support that it may be legitimate. In the original picture, one can just make out the name Tim Doyle in the lower right corner. As it turns out, Tim Doyle's name is also watermarked on the final design image for the 2011 Dodge Durango Citadel Black & Tan, a model that was shown at SEMA in 2010.

Of course, even if this really is the work of Doyle, there's nothing to say that this image isn't one of a great many potential looks for the future SRT4. In fact, the departure of the cross-hair grille from the Dodge's nose seems like it could be a hard sell, though we do, naturally, dig the sleek hood scoop and the bulked up wheel/tire combination.

Whether or not a much-rumored Dart SRT4 materializes (let alone looks like this) is an open question, but we're still holding out hope that the car is fitted with the nearly 300-horsepower four-cylinder that has been rumored in the past.

      If this IS an SRT4 then it would not be a Dodge Dart, it would just be an SRT4 since SRT is its own brand now. But I can just make out a very large crosshair grille on the lower fascia. It's blacked out but you can see it.

        SRT is its own brand for cars that don't fall under the other brands as well as the top performance trim for the other Chrysler brands excluding Fiat. So it would be a Dart SRT4 just as it was the Neon SRT4 (yes I know what the promo materials said and they were the only place that referred to it as the Dodge SRT4) and the Caliber SRT4.

          The list is a spin list. None of the cars on the list are in the Dart's category, and none of them would really be considered high volume cars, except for the CX-5.

      Yeah, I'm used to be such a Mopar nut and really wish I was interested but it's just another Neon with a different shell same as the Caliber. They just keep repeating the same formula over and over. Turbo 4-bang front-wheel drive. Make it AWD and then we'll talk.

        On the various Dart forums in the engineer chats, the SRT engineers have played with the idea of AWD since the Alfa platform is setup to support AWD. In light of the GT taking the place of the R/T and the idea of a R/T still be decided on makes a real good case for a Dart R/T aimed at the Focus ST and a Dart SRT4 with AWD aimed at the Evo and STI. Also that formula works, you ever track an STI/Evo then a SRT4 or Cobalt SS/TC? Wanna guess which had more understeer and was faster in similarly skilled hands?

        I gotta agree with you man. The Dart even in SRT form doesn't excite me and sounds like the same car they've been pushing since the Neon SRT which was a fun car but the Dart needs something more to grab the sport turbo crowds attention. By the ravonious defense iKingston is dishing out I'd guess he owns a Dart. :)

        Based on your logic then, all cars with FWD and a turbo 4 are the same...?

          @iKingston
          @ Cursethedawn Just because all three cars are generally the same size and all badged as Dodge does not make them re-skinned versions of each other! All three cars are completely different, as in each being based off 3 separate platforms, using completely different sets of engines, not to mention looking completely different as well... I would provide you with platform and engine details but based on your proven ignorance, you probably wouldn't understand anyway. I just hope that you are joking.

          No but quite literally the Caliber replaced the Neon and the Dart replaced the Caliber. Never have they existed together in a model year. So instead of re skinning the same car, giving it a different name and calling it a new model try something different. I want to get excited but keep seeing the same car over and over.

        Yes I'm sure you're devastatingly intelligent iKingston, I bow to your wealth of useless knowledge. The point is throw those stats at the average consumer and they won't care. To the public they are in fact the same Dodge car filling the same spot in the Dodge line up and doing it the same way.

      seriously shameless for a car company to be consistently copying the design of other manufacturers. Sure, a new design can be derived from existing.. this is a blatant rip-off for the front fascia of the scirocco! shame on you!

      I'm looking forward to the SRT4 coming out. The old Neon SRT4 was one of the best-handling and fastest FWD sport compacts around, back in the day, and was ridiculously cheap-around $21k. The SRT is STILl known for its amazing performance and can keep up with, if not beat, any modern day

        Not the best handling, but it was the fastest FWD piece of crap when it came out.

        It has a redesigned front fascia, with what appears to LED fog lights, a lowered ride height, a modified hood, and low profile tires. I don't Dodge would go through all that trouble for a crash test vehicle.

      An SRT4 with AWD would be great, but I really hope they bring out a hatchback bodystyle of this car. I know more than a few people that like the car otherwise, but want a hatchback and simply because of that have taken the Dart off their shopping list.
