Preparing for the introduction of its new naming system and redesigned entry-level sedan, Infiniti has released a brief teaser video for the 2014 Q50. As a refresher, the Q50 is the replacement for the G37 sedan, and while we've seen spy shots of this car before, this video is our first detailed look at the production car.

All we get to see in the video is a shot of the headlight, but we get to see key elements like the stylish daytime running lights, crescent-shaped parking lights and adaptive low beams. The overall shape of the headlight is very close to what we saw earlier this year on the LE Concept. We have to wait until the Detroit Auto Show kicks off in a couple weeks to see the Q50's full design (although we're sure there will be some leaks before that point), but until then, check out the short video posted after the jump.

      This is the worst changing of car names since Lincoln went all alphabet soup.

        Yeah, stupid to kill the G series name. Bad enough it doesn't have a real name.

      Wish they would use proper names.

      That's a good looking headlight assembly. Couldn't help but think of the old 5 series though.

        I was thinking the same thing - the old Bangle design.

      So the Q50 won't have a 5.0 Liter engine? Oh. That makes sense. Thanks!

      I'm so sad about the naming scheme... What a waste! F this B and the Infiniti product planners! I'm going to call it the "G" regardless! I would feel differently if they chose a naming scheme that didn't copy someone elses! Now i'm plain angry...

      So they finally make a great successful car that can hang with the big boys and after generations they're already messing with the name....good going...way to get ahead of your self

      Speaking of stupid naming scheme, what does BMW 528i mean? Does it have a 5.28 liter engine? Does it have 528 horsepower or 528 ft lb torque? Can it seat 5 people and has a 2.8 liter engine? Is it the number of miles between trips to repair shop? Does it represent the fact that it is overpriced by 528%? What does the 'i' stand for? Fuel Injection? Does BMW also make cars without fuel injection? Does X5 not use fuel injection?

        i stands for fuel injection... cars that end in d are diesels. im not so sure how that is hard for you to understand. 3,5,7 are sizes for the most part... the final two numbers designate the engine. just like mercedes has c,e,s as their main cars, followed by a number the represents the engine size. pretty smart if you ask me.

        @desinerd1
        BMW naming back in the day used to represent what car you bought and engine noting 3 series - 3 2.8L I6 - 28 Direct injection - i the 328i became such solid name that kept them despite the engine difference for future model....now the 328, 335, 528, 535, 550 , etc. became hallmark names.......the opposite thing infiniti is doing with the G......
