A few trademark drawings of what could be the production Gumpert Tornante have shown up on the internet. As you may recall, the supercar manufacturer recently made its way through insolvency largely unscathed and is already back to building Apollo models. But it looks like that isn't all the company is up to. The team at WorldCarFans managed to lay its mitts on a trademark drawing that shows what looks to be an evolution of the Gumpert Tornante by Touring Concept that debuted at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

Designers have scrapped the concept's split rear window in favor louvered back glass, and the vehicle's exhaust seems to have received a substantial revision as well. While it's unclear exactly what sort of drivetrain the production Tornante will offer, it's concept predecessor came packing a twin-turbo 4.2-liter V8 engine producing somewhere in the neighborhood of 700 horsepower. The mill was bolted to a TT40e six-speed semi-automatic gearbox. Sounds like a party.

That can't be a Gumpert! It's not hideous! Actually, other than the shoe-box-rectangle grill, it's quite handsome. Clean lines, strong form, and it's actually got some identity--which can't be said of most underdog, mid-engined supercars.

I wasn't sure about the louvers but after taking it all in I'd say the design works well as a whole.

Typical. No rear visibility. Don't tell me a camera is a good substitute. And don't call me Shirley

Looks like Gumpert sourced the MP4-12C for the Torante's headlight housings. Proof: http://www.carsimg.org/wallpapers/2012/04/2011-mclaren-mp4-12c-front-dihedral-doors-1080x1920.jpg

This is also the spiritual successor to the Lamborghini Coutach but looks like a Miura.

I'm seeing a mashup of Aston Martin and Audi R8 in the rear with the new Jag F-type pasted on the front end with McLaren headlights all wrapped in the sheetmetal of Bugati Veyron...but I could be wrong.
