Somewhere between grille badges for motorsports successes, car club emblems, and the horrific proliferation of bumper/window stickers, adhesive pinstriping and Truck Nutz, vehicle personalization went off the rails a while back. A new company called Grillies is aiming to class things up a bit again.

Grillies are a bit like charms for one's vehicle, made from solid metal (with pewter, nickel and painted finishes) and able to attach to the vehicle grille of your choice with common tools. The substantial ornaments are available in dozens of forms, from animals, to flags to symbols of faith. Just a few could be characterized as being slightly lowbrow (the "F-bomb" and "Mudflap Girl" come immediately to mind), while most are pretty nifty.

At about $50 per pop, then, why not spruce up the visage of your vehicle with the kitten, horseshoe or alligator handbag of your dreams? Let your most passionate interest be your guide (even if you're passionate about teddy bears... we won't judge.) They may not be quite so cool as that three million miles badge on the front of your Volvo P1800, but they sure beat Calvin's never ending stream of derision.

Seeing that my car is my interest/hobby- can I get a badge representing my car for the grille of my car?

Didn't Subaru do this a few years back with "badges" or something? Anyway, it beats a stick figure families....

And still are doing it. Our customers love their "badge of ownership" - like them or not, I think some of the dog/cat/hobbie ones would be popular with some of our clientele. I actually posted this on our store's Facebook page to gather some feedback.

Amen to that but I bet you'll see stick figure "grillie" families before too long, unfortunately.

I would say that Grillie is like Pandora for your car, not Pinterest. Evidently, the writer has a bad case of talkinouttamybuttitis

You really don't see a relation between this and a site where PIN THINGS YOU LIKE to your space? I'm not saying it's not completely unlike a Pandora bracelet, but attacking the Pinterest comparison is just a bad case of commentingouttayourbuttitis.

I'm all for new ways of creatively expressing yourself, but these just simply don't look very good... they're actually pretty boring, and they don't fit with the "flow" of the front of the vehicle at all. It's like putting stickers on someone's face.

Like Pinterest? Really? As if people haven't been sticking emblems on their grilles for decades, you guys felt the need to relate it to that site? Are there 18 year olds running AutoBlog?

Passat, Darwin emblem, I'm going out on a limb and saying you also have an iPhone and voted for Obama. You might fit every stereotype there is.

Um, isn't this what bumper stickers are for?

No, these seem like they're just for decoration. Bumper stickers are for letting the world know you're a pompous, opinionated, douche, preferably in a politically motivated way.

I have a GRILLIE golden retriever on my vehicle. I love it! This article, in my opinion, does not do Grillie the justice it deserves. They are clever, whimsical and gorgeous in both quality and design. Who wouldn't like to receive one of these unique pieces? I think it's a great gift item... You Go Grillie!!
