After we drove a prototype of the 2014 Lexus IS, we were told that Lexus was shipping it back to Japan. As it turns out, late-night funnyman Jay Leno was already in the motherland with the coming sport sedan, and he lapped it around Fuji Motor Speedway with Chief Engineer Junichi Furuyama.

This was probably during his LFA drive two months ago, actually, when Furuyama-san was even more tight-lipped about the IS than he was a week ago, so Leno has to make the best guesses he can. Leno goes over the whole car, then takes it out for a casual spin, so at least you get to see it in action. As for Jay's take, you'll just have to watch the video below to find out.

I heard next week Ford is Leno test drive the upcoming Mustang. Only, since it's current state is a rolling chassis, they'll have to push him around the track while he gives his thoughts to the camera.

Interior is garbage, as usual with Japanese cars. Spindle grille will make it look ghastly. Better get an old gen, there are many in Lexus dealerships that no one bought.

It looks like a great car. Can't wait for the launch. Might replace my piece of crap BMW with this. Tired of the rattles, and monthly visits to repair shops. Plus, I want to upgrade to a luxury car.

Hating is exactly what you are doing. The least you could do is be truthful.

hmm.... I really wanted the 328 or 4 series to be my next car. (currently driving 6 speed manual '09 TSX) I thought bmw had improved in the reliability aspect. Didn't get they get put in the top 3 reliable cars list (of some car site)? How many miles on your car? I hate rattles and squeaks. The only problem with my acura has been the battery. Ended up getting a duralast gold. Hopefully this one lasts more than a year.

G has and always will be better than the IS, Sans the IS-F, wonder what the IPL will be like when it debuts.

I hope the new ISF keeps the V8!! Good to see lexus aggressively Pushing it's sporty RWD offerings. Only RWD and RWD based cars are true sporty cars - not fwd garbage from volkswagen.

I've owned both a GTI and two Jettas; I don't consider the Jetta to be anything resembling sporty at all. The MkIV was the worst handling car I've ever driven and the MkV, while better, was hardly sportier than an Accord.
