Lincoln has released a new video teasing... something. In what looks to be an advertisement for more advertising, the company has worked up a clip featuring everything from a drum solo and a flying hawk to Abraham Lincoln himself. The video shows a few shots of what looks to be an MKZ and promises more news is coming on Monday.

What does the company have up its sleeves? Rumors are bouncing around the web like so many ill-informed ping-pong balls, and cover everything from an alternative powertrain for the MKZ to a new two-door model – noise that is underscored by the presence of a Ford Mustang chassis lurking in the background of the video around the 27-second mark (see screen capture above).

Could Lincoln be considering a rear-wheel drive luxury coupe built on the pony's bones? A move like that seems awfully unlikely, but it certainly wouldn't hurt our feelings. Either way, we'll find out more tomorrow. In the interim, check out the teaser video below for yourself.

Remember that movie, Weekend at Bernie's, where those two guys had everybody believing that Bernie was still alive, when he was actually dead the whole time? Those two guys work at Lincoln.

Well they showed the four-door MKS, Then a four-door Lincoln Continental. And that bird which may have been a Hawk, but also kind of looked like a....... Falcon. Ford Falcon to underpin Lincoln MKR?

Would rekindling the name "Continental", as in "Lincoln Continental Mark X", for a new RWD flagship luxury coupe really be such a bad thing? Really?

Product is king and I have yet to see anything from them showing that they are going to actually try something new and really exciting. That new MKZ looks OK, I guess, but definitely nothing exciting. They have a not-so-hot grill, but no actual design language beyond that - the sides, the back, even the rims of the car are all fairly generic. Juxtaposition that with Cadillac that of course has the Caddy grill, but that is just one element in their Art & Science design language. You see sharp creases and nice curves. Caddy has very distinct taillights and headlights that you won't see on any other car. Lincoln is basically just a fancier grill, but the rest of the design seems to be held back by the fact that it has to share too many components with its Ford cousin.

The things cool About caddy is that A&S still has nods to Caddys past. I think it's clever how they integrated old with new. Lincoln could learn something.

Has NO ONE from Lincoln been to a Cadillac dealer lately?

It had better be good or the only thing coming is the death of Lincoln.

yknow, i've always hoped Lincoln can finally get the balls to release cars people want, which i think they can...but this teaser doesnt inspire me to think it. i dont get pumped like the corvette teasers, and all i feel is theyre trying too hard to be All-American by outdoing what Chryslers ads looks silly, i hope they can prove me wrong...Fake Astronaut, chick hanging funny (in slo-mo!) fake Abe and a drummer in a

I lost all hope man, I was praying that when Ford axed Mercury they would actually pay attention to Lincoln and build it back to the brand that it used to be, but THEY HAVEN"T DONE JACK ****. Really makes me sad to think at one point these guys were actually considered more luxurious then a Cadillac or some of the others luxury brand out there

I'll believe it when I see it. Lincoln has "reinvented" themselves like 10,243 times in the past.
