The hurrah of the last kind for the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is this Limited Edition that celebrates 30 years of Mitsubishi Motors in North America. Built in North America as well, the 2013 Outlander Sport Limited Edition gets numerous black trim pieces outside, such as the center bumper, side mirror housings, wheel arch trim and skirting and roof rails. It sits on special Argent wheels.

Open the doors and the darkness continues with available Dove Grey and Black leather seating, and black leather parking brake sleeve, all accented by aluminum brake and accelerator pedals. On this model the six-way power driver's seat is standard. The sole performance mod is a new balancer shaft that makes for quicker acceleration without any penalty in the mileage rating.

You can start saying goodbye to this generation of the Outlander Sport in the high-res gallery above, and read more about it in the press release below.

Mitsubishi Unveils All-New 2014 Outlander and 2013 Outlander Sport Limited Edition at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show

Wed, Nov 28, 2012 - Los Angeles, California - Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) showcases a pair of dynamic new product offerings at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show: the all-new 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander crossover and the sharp-looking Outlander Sport Limited Edition compact crossover that commemorates the 30th anniversary of Mitsubishi Motors entering the North American marketplace.

Advanced Technology, Upscale Trim Highlight All-New 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander
With its sleek new interior/exterior design direction, high-quality cabin materials, and reduced fuel consumption, the all-new 2014 Outlander is an affordably-priced crossover that is an ideal vehicle for the cost-conscience automotive consumer.

Mitsubishi designers and engineers have given the 2014 Outlander a fresh new contemporary face that is both appealing and functional with reduced aerodynamic drag.

Further aiding fuel economy is a lightweight body that tips the scales approximately 200 pounds less than that of the outgoing Outlander – all while providing a high level of collision safety and structural rigidity through use of high-tensile steel.

The 2014 Outlander's new interior design emphasizes ergonomics, aesthetics, comfort and quality. From the new soft-touch instrument panel to the eye-catching gloss black center waterfall to the lovely wood grain trim, the interior of this handsome crossover exudes opulence.

Thanks to a re-engineered version of the Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) system with continuously-variable valve lift, the 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine combined with a continuously-variable transmission (CVT) will deliver fuel economy that will place the all-new Outlander among the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the 7-passenger as standard in the CUV segment. The premium GT trim level will be offered with a more powerful 24-valve 3.0-liter V-6/6-speed automatic transmission configuration.

In addition to the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander's long list of welcome standard amenities, available features include a next-generation navigation system, a state-of-the-art 710-watt Rockford-Fosgate® sound system, a power tailgate activated from the driver's seat or by the keyless entry remote fob, and advanced safety systems including a camera-based Lane Departure Warning system and radar-based Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Mitigation systems as well as the latest version of Mitsubishi's extraordinary Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel drive system.

Automobile 2.0: The Highly Efficient/Eco-Friendly Plug-in Outlander PHEV
Having revolutionized the automobile industry in the new millennia with the introduction of the 100% electric-powered Mitsubishi i-MiEV – the first mass-produced and affordably-priced production electric vehicle (EV) by a major automobile manufacturer – Mitsubishi Motors will soon launch a revolutionary plug-in hybrid electric version of the all-new Outlander.

Set to arrive at Mitsubishi dealerships in North America in early 2014, the Outlander PHEV will make use of highly efficient front-and rear-mounted electric motors as well as an internal-combustion engine along with a cutting-edge new form of Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system that makes the most of the dual electric motor/internal combustion engine configuration to maximize traction, handling and vehicle stability. The all-new Outlander PHEV can operate in purely EV, Parallel and Series Hybrid mode, depending on driver mode selection, battery charge level and vehicle speed.

2013 Outlander Sport Limited Edition – Elevating the Compact Crossover
To commemorate Mitsubishi Motors' arrival to American shores some 30 years ago, the company has created arguably the most dynamic-looking compact crossover vehicle made available in North America today with the arrival of the 2013 Outlander Sport Limited Edition.

Manufactured at the company's automobile assembly plant in America's heartland in Normal, Illinois, the 2013 Outlander Sport Limited Edition makes quite a visual statement with its distinctly ominous look, thanks to its blackout side mirrors, center bumper, wheel arch trim and roof rails, accompanied by special argent Limited Edition alloy wheels. The interior receives the same foreboding treatment with available two-tone Dove Grey and Black leather seating surfaces (power driver seat standard on the Outlander Sport Limited Edition). Vehicle performance is enhanced by a new engine balancer shaft that provides smoother and quicker acceleration. Rounding out this exquisitely styled package is special "Limited Edition" badging.

The people I know who drive a Mitsubishi always tell me the same thing about them, they rarely need a repair. Mitsu has a long road ahead but they have a chance, the parent company is huge and very profitable. With the investment in Normal IL. they are here to stay.

Funny how this looks better than the "new" one they debuted. Lol.

My ompression is the Outlander and Outlander Sport are completely different vehicles. The Outlander just unveiled will replace the existing Outlander, not this (Outlander Sport). Outlander Sport has always been a much more attractive vehicle than its older brother and it looks like that will not change for 2014.

This is a cool crossover because you can get it with a manual transmission.

I totally agree. Even the turbo engine from the Lancer Ralliart would be fine. I test drove the Outlander Sport and the 148hp just doesn't feel enough, but the fuel economy is pretty good.

These are all over the place in my city (in Canada). Mitsu seem a little more popular up here. I figure it's the higher demand for 4wd/awd. It's a shame they don't offer a ralliart model or at least another engine option. I don't really understand the level of hate Mitsu get from a lot of Americans. They're as reliable as any Japanese vehicle and they have a great warranty anyway. The model line-up is a bit weak right now, but this RVR/Outlander Sport is actually a pretty good vehicle.

why don't they issue a special kamikaze pilot's edition? maybe it will help remind brain dead americans intent on sending american dollars overseas to help the japanese car industry that they once made the japanese zeros that kamikaze pilots flew into us navy ships............

You also shouldn't buy British cars because they wouldn't let their colonies go without blood. Or German cars because they bombed just about everyone else in the western world. You shouldn't even support the American economy because they killed and displaced countless native tribes.

........if those are the best reasons you can come up with to not send us dollars overseas to support foreign economies then, suit yourself.......i guess what you are trying to say is that history is just history, right? but let me remind you that while we may never fight another bullet war with japan--have you heard any of the "rumors" that our economy is faltering? do you think maybe/ perhaps/ kinda we're actually in in an economic war? ask yourself which is a better scenario for america--that honda or toyota and mitsubishi prevails, or GM and ford prevail?

They sure don't. I'm sure they'll really be confused when Mitsu unveils the next Outlander today and Autoblog runs a story on it.
