EVO has come out with another gotta-watch-it video, throwing its 2012 Car of the Year contestants around the UK's 1.5-mile Blyton Park track. It's actually a 15-minute teaser for the full-length DVD detailing the magazine's Car of the Year selection, but the tease is worth every penny free second.

Tiff Needell and sports car racer Richard Meaden handle the wheel duties, the two driving five pairs of sports cars: Lotus Exige S vs. Porsche Boxster S, Morgan Three-Wheeler vs. Toyota GT86, BMW M135i vs. Porsche 911, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series vs. Alpina B3 GT3, the marquee event pits the McLaren MP4-12C vs. the Pagani Huayra. After a head-to-head lap with commentary during drifts, Meaden takes each car out to set a representative lap time.

You'll find the verdicts, lots of tire smoke, and lines like "Anything you can do sideways I can do sideways" in the video below.

I say the 911 because its fast and can be used everyday, plus more storage room. The Mclaren is second on my list, for being a great performance car and as stated by many journalists can be used everyday. Good job to Pagani, and the Morgan was fun to watch.

BMW and Lotus are giant killers. Money well spent.

This track was definitely a little too tight, but the supercars still pulled it off. That little BMW is a sweet package! If only it looked even remotely attractive. It was unsatisfying that they told us they were looking for fun, where "lap times are not an essential part"... but we ended up with a list of lap times. What's the conclusion? The Huayra is the best because it's fastest? Was it the most fun? I guess after 14 mins we are just supposed to forget the point and look at numbers.

Ah, I'm stupid, it's a teaser. Still, seems to render it a little pointless. But damn fine footage.

I can't help but think the Morgan would be a great Sunday afternoon driver through the mountains.

They could have learnt a thing or two about lap times had they an SRT Viper and a Corvette Zo6 Carbon or ZR1

Considering this wasn't produced for American consumption, I'm guessing they're also more likely to focus on cars that are more readily available in the EU.

EVO's COTY is as much about drivers' cars as it is about outright lap times... Both the Vette and the Viper are lacking in that department. The absence of a 458 Italia and a GT-R Black Edition should be more suspect.

He's talking about the new Viper, and all early accounts (including here at Autoblog) point towards it being an incredible drivers car.

Are you joking, or just plain stupid? That course was so tight that a Lotus Exige was faster than a 500 HP AMG Black by 2.5 seconds. And a 720 HP Huayra was less than 2 seconds faster than that same Exige which has about HALF that amount of horsepower.

He didn't say ZR1 for a reason. The Z06 Carbon is the best braking car in the World, so I'd say it would do quite well on a tight track. As for the Viper, not so much. Go to any autox and you will see plenty of Vipers doing donuts around cones.

He's talking about the new Viper... obviously it's a bit early to really tell how well it will stack up against the competition.

The term drivers car is very subjective. It all depends on skill level and preference of the driver. I'm pretty sure the BMW or subaru feel better than the supercars on the track to most drivers no matter how skillful we think we are.....
