If you weren't fortunate enough to grab one of the 19 sinister-looking Frozen Black Edition M3 Coupes back in 2011, BMW has a new ultra-limited M3 for you to dream about. The 2013 BMW M3 Coupe Frozen Limited Edition goes on sale in January with a starting price of $76,395 including destination, and unlike previous Frozen Edition models, this latest one will be offered in three different matte colors: Frozen Red, Frozen White and Frozen Blue.

The price for the Frozen Limited Edition is a premium of more than $16,000 compared to a base M3 Coupe, but in addition to the car's exclusivity, BMW made sure to include plenty of added content. In the styling department, the M3 Coupe Frozen Limited Edition rides on matte black, 19-inch wheels, adds glossy black accents on the grille, fender vents and exhaust outlets, and has the carbon fiber roof panel. The cabin features black and carbon leather throughout, with contrast stitching that matches the car's exterior color.

A handful of options are also offered on the Frozen Limited Edition, like the M-DCT gearbox, BMW Individual audio system, and heated front seats. Hit the jump for BMW's press release.

The Frozen Editions are giving me a brain-freeze. Just why would someone want to waste 16K more for these?

Special editions that are nothing but cosmetic are not very special after all.

We should make an acronym for this kind of car: YALE - Yet Another Limited Edition

This smells like something Pontiac would have done... Amazing car weighed down by to much gimmickry.

These cars, for many, are more about style than the driving experience. It seems like only 2 out of 10 that I see even have a manual transmission. Hearing people talk about wheel colors and the amount of sheen on the paint job makes them sound more like fashionistas than car enthusiasts.

Beautiful color and contrast but a bit too pricey.

Can someone please explain the logic behind paying 16k for just rims, paint, and special leather? You can a fully loaded M3 for about the same price as the base of this special edition.

The base price of this special edition includes the premium package, competition package and extended leather, which brings the M3 to $70,795, so the custom package really only adds $5,600 over what you'd normally pay the dealer - save that you might be able to negotiate on the price of a non-limited edition M3, while the 2011 frozen gray limited edition sold out in under 15 minutes. Here's the bottom line: if you like the look and are getting an M3, your choices are to get the limited edition, do without and get a normal paint job, or buy an M3 and take it to a shop to have them do the work. While the latter is feasible, and gives you a wider range of options, it's not cheap either.

Basically, the logic is the matte finish M3 looks great in your garage and makes a great conversation piece while you probably drive round in your X6 all day. If this matte paint is anything like what came on the Competition pack its so fragile there's no way you'd use it as a driver, and no one wanting a daily driven M3 would pick a "frozen blue" coupe over a sedan anyway.

For some reason, the shades of the blue and red colors seem to make the car's bodies look like plastic.

you can stitch it like any normal cloth... it's soft material before hardening.
