From "noooooooooo!!!!!!" to "yes!"

That's the recent history of Rafael de Mestre and his attempt to be the first person to take a standard, production electric vehicle around the world. After playing catch-up with the Electric Odyssey duo and their Citroen C-Zero EV, de Mestre suffered a crash in Germany just 600 miles from the finish line.

Undeterred, de Mestre had his Tesla Roadster repaired straightaways and successfully completed the drive last weekend. @TeslaMotors Tweeted congratulations for "making the #GuinessBook of records with your Roadster: the first EV to make it around the world!" But, looking at de Mestre's own Twitter feed, it appears he's still out there, running for more EV records.

15,000 miles in 80 days in a Telsa electric sports car, yep thats not bad. Can remember the mighty RWD Escorts winning the1970 World Cup Rally, a lot it was on a lot of off road stages they done 16,000 miles in 38 days, just about every car maker had a car entered in it millions line the route to watch it, not the typical dull Ford v Citroen WRC short stage in just one country of today that nobody is interested in anymore that Loeb wins every year. 80 day in an electric car thats very arduous congratulations well done, never doubted the reliability as most of the UKs electric milk floats have over a millions of miles on the clock, just ask any British milkman.

He's not quite the first to do it in an EV. Perhaps first series production EV.

Congratualtions on an awesome acheivement! But Tesla is not quite correct - to be exact, isn't the Solar Taxi the first EV to go around the world?

It's high time Nissan starts taking their customers concerns seriously! I bought a Leaf, my first Nissan car, and I can promise you it will be my last Nissan car unless they seriously shape up.

Nissan can certainly learn from Tesla's Customer Service Dept. How many other automakers would send five (5!) expert technicians to rebuild a CF front end with custom panels? (Ask a regular Tesla Roadster owner how long they have to wait for a panel replacement...)

Can you elaborate on some of the problems you've had? I'm thinking of getting a mark 1.5 LEAF next year if the price is right.
