Acura has paired its 2013 ILX with the band Metric on its U.S. tour. To keep people as intrigued outside the concert as they are inside, Acura turned the ILX into an LED art car with a 3D display where there should have been an interior.

Creating the LED light show took 4,600 hours, that was for the installation of 7,500 individually controllable LEDs activated by more than 1,100 lines of programming. You can watch it in action in the video below.

Personally, I did not like that. Bringing out those gaps/creases looked sorta cheesy. Just my opinion.

...if only they put that much creative energy into the car's design. Why does Acura grow some creative balls for advertising but never for the actual product their advertising?

XT6, You realize the Integra and the RSX were also built on the Civic platform?

There is a difference between sharing a platform and sharing the whole car.

Wouldn't it be nice.... ...if ACURA concentrated on a good product instead of gimmicks?

Cool, creative marketing idea on an very uninspiring car.

The only real issue I have with this car is the automatic transmission. While the lowly Hyundai Accent and Kia Rios have 6 speed automatics, the near luxury car, ILX has been introduced with an ancient 5 speed automatic. Not good Acura.

As marketing gimmicks go it is a pretty good one.
