Th unveiling of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series isn't that far off. Prototypes have been popping up in spy photographers' image banks for a while, now we have some video of the hardest SLS AMG the street-legal world will ever know.

The specification remains a mystery, though, even down to what engine will find its way tucked well back under that long hood. The money seems to be on a last hurrah for the 6.2-liter V8, uprated to something beyond 600 horsepower from its current 563 through engineering and not forced induction. A report in Car and Driver predicts the Black Series will lose 100 or so pounds and get strengthened running gear to cope, along with the usual fare that makes every Black Series a volcanically hard performance tool.

Scroll down for a look at the videos and to hear the sound through its quad pipes.

The M159 makes 583hp now, Autoblog, not 563hp. Remember this? http://www.autoblog.com/2012/06/05/2013-mercedes-benz-sls-amg-gt-ups-the-supercar-stakes/

Near the end of Carparazzi's running footage: was the camo'd SLS Black coming up on a camo'd F-Type? It's like world's colliding if it was true.

Glad to see they didn't go with a turbo 3-cylinder.

Nice to see Autoblog realized in two months what a lot of us in the comments were saying http://www.autoblog.com/2012/06/12/mercedes-benz-slc-may-not-be-a-gullwing-after-all/ ...that this was a SLS Black Series test mule, not a SLC (which has been put on hold since earlier this year and was never going to have gullwing doors). Can't wait to see it out of the camo, despite the $375-400k price tag it will carry.

Pretty sure that's the new iteration of the Honda Del Sol, rebadged as a MB to throw off the paparazzi.

        Would be as pointless as a 911 GT3 RS...convertible.
