The wheeled bomb shelter known as the Knight XV has been Toronto fabricator Conquest's only vehicle for a few years now. No longer, as the Evade, an unarmored SUV – we use the acronym "SUV" very lightly – becomes the follow-up beast. The family resemblance is obvious, yet the Evade evolves and softens – another word we use lightly – the design language with details like head- and taillight surrounds, and narrower fender flares.

Whereas the Knight XV is built on the Ford F350 Super Duty frame, the Evade's aluminum and mild steel body sits on the F550 Super Duty chassis, so it's even wider. That has only made room for more luxury in the 400-cubic-foot interior for the maximum four passengers, two up front and two in the executive area in the rear. The tourchscreens, laptop trays, three sunroofs, leather and Alcantara inside contrast with protection gear like the 360-degree joystick-controlled searchlights and FLIR night vision front and rear.

Conquest Vehicles Introduces Its First Unarmored SUV... EVADE

TORONTO, ONTARIO - Aug. 7, 2012 -- Conquest Vehicles Inc., the Toronto-based company that is responsible for the highly sought after, handcrafted, fully armored luxury KNIGHT XV, has launched EVADE, the company's first unarmored SUV, announced William Maizlin, President, Conquest Vehicles.

The new body style, design and aesthetic of EVADE (which Conquest Vehicle's flagship vehicle, the Knight XV will also inherit), includes new headlights and taillights sleekly wrapping around the sides of the vehicle, narrower fender flares, a redesigned grille, hood scoop, the addition of a third tandem sunroof and a wider backdoor to accommodate EVADE's wider body frame to allow for exit/entry of executive security though the rear of the vehicle. The rear bumper now features an integrated step to simplify this access. EVADE will be built on a Ford F550 Super Duty Chassis and its massive unarmored skin will be made from an aluminum-mild steel blend, making it significantly lighter than the Knight XV. The first EVADE is scheduled to roll off the production line will be in Fall 2012.

Conquest Vehicles mandate of 'hand crafted' once again is populated throughout EVADE whereby elements including the vehicle's steering wheel, proprietary hinges, running boards and even the key itself are machined out of solid stainless steel. The vehicles' handles are machined out of a solid block of aluminum.

EVADE's luxurious interior cabin space will provide over 400 cubic feet and will carefully blend military inspired design cues with elegant and rich finishes. EVADE will house a new ergonomically designed cockpit and cabin and the entire vehicle will offer both driver and passengers touch screen technology.

"We wanted EVADE to set a new standard for our company in terms of pushing the boundaries from engineering to design to incorporating new user experiences without compromising the integrity of some of the key highlight design features offered by our armored Knight XV. The result speaks for itself in terms of the final product and we couldn't be happier," said Maizlin.

Similar to the Knight XV, EVADE is offered in newly designed ergonomic 2+2 limousine-style seating. Also available are 2 electronic executive style reclining seats with the option of either a driver partition or retractable flat screen television. The interior will also offer lap top trays, a third sunroof and more cabin space. In addition, some of the vehicle's exterior design cues, layers and angles will be seamlessly incorporated into the interior of the vehicle's cabin design without losing the feel of being in a luxury SUV.

Offered at (USD) $579,000, EVADE incorporates various composite materials, metals, high-grade leathers and high-grade alcantara to create luxury finishes throughout the vehicle.

EVADE will also offer as standard features including front and rear commercial grade air ride suspension, power windows, and 360-degree roof mounted, joystick controlled searchlights. The vehicle is offered in 4x4, and is available with either a gasoline or diesel engine. EVADE will also come equipped with FLIR night vision camera systems in the front and rear of the vehicle.

      The irony here is phenomenal... a monstrous, F-550 based, land yacht, and they name it "Evade"? The thing couldn't evade itself, nor a couple of joggers for that matter. Still, for those who find a regular H1 to be utterly soft, for the ridiuclous pricing on this thing you might as well just go all the way and get the civilian Marauder and drive an actual bomb shelter.

      No where does it mention this SUV's milage and how much it would cost to fill the tank. Then again, if you can purchase it with its hefty price tag of a half a million dollars: who cares? In my opinion it looks like a gas guzzler and we certainly do not need anymore of these automobiles on the road. This car looks like bling-bling for the rich.
