We're not exactly sure what to say about this video, other than to point out yet again that the world can be a messed-up place to live. A man walking in the parking lot of what we think is Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, was hit by another motorist in a white truck. We can't say whether it was on purpose or malicious... until the driver seemingly chose not to stop and make sure the man he hit was uninjured.

But wait, it gets worse.

The driver of the truck fled from the scene with the man attached to the truck bed. We're not entirely sure how the victim was attached – possibly by clothing caught between the bodywork – but he apparently had enough freedom of movement that he could take out his cell phone and call 911.

The driver of the truck was arrested for a litany of crimes, and the victim managed to escape with nothing more than cuts and bruises. Oh, and a great story to tell his grandkids. See security footage of the event in the news video below.

      The driver was his 'friend' that took his drugs and drove off. He was hanging on to get his drugs back

      "Similar" accident happened in NY few years ago. In that case person was hit by a car and was thrown under passing-by van. Van driver did not realize what happened and kept driving. By the time van stopped several miles later there was not much left of the person. . . what a way to die.

      HUGE RESEARCH FAIL by Autoblog. This story is already 1 or 2 days old, and the man who called 911 was never actually hit by the truck driver. According to an article I read, he intentionally held and clung onto the truck because he wanted a bag of "pills" back from the man who was driving the truck. The driver eventually stopped, gave him his pills and then left.

        Thats not what the news story in the video says. Sounds like the man hanging from the truck confirmed he was being dragged, and the news story said at the end, the man driving the truck was eventually charged. "According to the article I read"....maybe YOUR source was wrong. Not necessarily a research fail from Autoblog.

      Interesting. When something like this happens in USA, it is "the world" that is "a messed-up place to live". Bit when something like that happens in any other country, it is that specific country that has the problem , but certainly not USA. I understand that this sort of garbage is not Autoblog's fault. Autoblog has to comply with externally imposed censorship requirements, if they would like to avoid running onto some serious and potentially life-threatening disagreements with the US regime. But this specific primitive cliche just stands out a bit too much.

        @The Calligrapher
        That's your problem with this story? You might be looking for a problem where there isn't one. I don't believe "the US regime" has any type of concern of being viewed as a nation where crime and disregard for human life don't occur. I read several different US news sites daily that regularly criticize our government and our citizens way of life. But good job on taking a turn of phrase and assuming that AOL is appeasing "the US regime."

      What a drag.

      Why, in the video, does it look like the guy purposely grabbed onto the side of the truck bed?
        • 2 Years Ago
        Yeah I think so too! It doesn't look like in the video he was hit it looks like he walked right up and just laid over onto the truck it was more like he ran into the truck and probably he was following that guy to his truck harassing him! And to top it off makes it all about him being abused so if it is really the other way around gotta see more footage to make me believe otherwise! Clearer footage! If someone was harassing me following me around i would not stop either cause that is a crazy person!

      As a proud(?) long time resident of Troy, I am always amazed at how a dork college can always find a way to botch a drug deal. This is not the first time RPI students have gained notoriety for doing something exceptionally dumb. I guess that's what happens from a school that I am willing to bet is the only college in the US with a frat house directly across the street from an all girls boarding high school...what could possibly go wrong there.
