Where the outlandish reigns supreme, functionality and practicality take a back seat. That's why we admire folks who poke fun at the insanity of the automotive aftermarket. Take this particular Dodge Viper owner. Rather than swap in the latest short-throw kit, the guy bolted on a four-foot-long shift knob. Why? According to his YouTube account, he was jealous of drivers with longer knobs. Har Har.

He helpfully points out that the modification won't work on GTS coupes or hardtops due to clearance issues. Regardless, the owner promises the modification will "get you lots of attention GUARANTEED." No arguments there. Check out the video below.

Wait until you see the bar stool that will be the next driver's seat and this mod will make a lot more sense.

Judging by the dialogue in the video, I suspect this is a joke. The guy was talking about scissor doors for crying out loud. On top of that, I don't know why anyone would want to drive a car like like that, with the shifter way up there like that.

Please make one for the windshield wiper stick too. There's nothing I hate more than it rains that having to turn on the wipers myself. I'd rather have the car next to me turn them on for me.

I'm pretty sure this was done for humor sake. He's making a joke in an attempt to get attention, which seems to be working. I actually thought it was pretty funny.. I doubt this 4 ft long shifter is a permanent modification, but more likely done strictly for the sake of making this video. C'mon people, if you can't laugh at this, what the hell is wrong with you?

That douchebag lives in the St Louis 'burbs. It's a high quality mod. Conduit from Lowes and a tubing bender from Harbor Freight. I got a text from a friend with this lovely piece of engineering at a stoplight with a caption: 'This REALLY happened.' The 6 foot tall twin pipes sounds great too. A cross baby birds chirping in the nest and diarrhea reverberating within the throne.

If you nail it in first, it shifts to second on its own.
