The image above is the aftermath of what happened at an intersection in Roselle Park, New Jersey. The driver of the dark, mangled car in the lower left ran the red light, hit a car in crossing traffic, was shunted into the ramped concrete divider and launched into an airborne 360 and a light pole.

The video itself wasn't as controversial as the fact that it was released at all. American Traffic Solutions (ATS), the company that has a contract managing red light cameras for Roselle Park, posted the video on its website to offer a demonstration of what happens when people run red lights. City residents complain that the timing of yellow lights is too short – which, admittedly, had little to do with this spectacle – but the city police chief defended the cameras and their effects on local traffic. You can watch the incident in the video below.

When will U.S.A. take driving seriously?

When drivers stop thinking driving is a right and start realizing it's a privilege.

I feel sorry most for the person he almost killed in the intersection. If the red light runner dies - darwinism in action.

We can all argue the pro's and con's of traffic cameras and be either right or wrong. But, here's the real issue: some careless fool sped through a traffic light at a busy intersection without regard for the safety of his surroundings, caused an accident and could have gotten himself or others killed for his actions. I'm hoping a judge puts this fool away for a while to let reflect on his actions, and then take away his driving priveleges permantly. I realize we all need our vehicles for our daily needs, but peolple like this shuldn't be allowed on the streets. let him use a taxicab or the bus to get around instead.

This is NJ - they only put people in jail that legally own guns. Drunk drivers are allowed to keep driving: This guy ALMOST hit a bus load of kids but instead hit a sign and another car. THEN he hit a police car on another occasion. He was arrested 5 times in 5 weeks for DUI - yet NJ law doesn't allow bail to be set on drunk driving because it's not that type of "crime". http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=8664192 http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2012/05/franklin_township_man_arrested.html People are stupid - and many of the laws that our government make up are even dumber.

7/10 Would have been higher if he'd stuck the landing. Seriously though, good thing this moron was the one who got t-boned by that larger sedan and not the other way around. The accident would have been much worse had it occurred just moments later, becoming yet another horrible drunk driving death. As for the whole cameras, all they did was provide "entertainment" for us public. Clearly running a red light is on the bottom of the list of problems going on here. It's like trying to justify speeding cameras because they snapped a kidnapper while he was leading a high-speed police chase.

Not necessarily. I like me some old Olds, but older car, no airbags, I wouldn't be surprised if the Cutlass driver got injured or died, while the light runner walked away scratch-free.

Accidents tend to happen when stupid people get into cars. The cameras don't make people smarter.
