Catch A Glympse Of Mercedes' New Real-Time Location-Sharing Function
This month, Mercedes-Benz announced a partnership with Glympse, a mobile technology company.
Glympse specializes in real-time location-sharing and has developed a program that will operate with Mercedes' Digital DriveStyle app allowing people to see where other Mercedes drivers are located in real-time. The app has already been downloaded 3 million times.
The system, which debuts this September in the A-Class, is simple to operate, developers said. A driver can "send a Glympse" to another driver via a text or email, which will contain a link. Once the recipient receives the link, they will see the driver's location on an interactive map.
"Glympse is a location sharing app for everyday people in everyday situations--it's about making life easier," said Bryan Trussel, co-founder and CEO of Glympse, Inc.
The location is only shared for a set amount of time before it disappears, but its applications are plentiful, Mercedes executives said.
"The cooperation with Glympse now makes it easy for our customers to share their location temporarily with their kids, friends, coworkers, or family," said Johann Jungwirth, President and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America, Inc. "We're excited to let users integrate our Digital DriveStyle application and Glympse into their lifestyles."
