A new Renault Clio is due to be revealed at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September, and based on these spy shots, it appears that also means a reveal of the Clio RS. Caught by the lenses at CarPix, several changes to this model versus the standard Clio seem to identify it as the hot hatch: larger front intakes, wheels and brakes, front LEDs relocated to the bumper, and a diffuser between twin pipes out back.

Rumors suggest that a 200-horsepower turbocharged four should be under the hood. Paired with the new Clio's sharper looks and Renault's proven handling chops, the Clio RS should have no problem staying relevant. We'll know more when we get to Paris, but for now there's the gallery of high-res spy photos.

Ha ha ha. I get it, 'spotted'. And 'ready to hatch' cause it looks like an Easter egg! Good one. Yeah, Jonathon, that should go on the resume. Just not for the standup audition.

I wonder if this is going to be a next-gen Nissan Sentra hatch? Seeing as how Renault and Nissan have essentially tied the knot, sharing platforms, or even out-right entire cars, seems like a natural thing. Especially so since Renault isn't sold in many markets Nissan is.

I'm saddened by the death of the 2 liter screamer in the old RS Clios. Supposedly real thrillers. Are there any naturally aspirated hot hatches left?

Nissan could use the Clio as a competitor to the Chevrolet Sonic, Mazda2, and Ford Fiesta. Hmmm...

But not the RS. Or would you label a clio RS with the Nissan sign?
