What good is a truck if it can't be used to invade your neighbors? Not much good. Not much good at all, say the armament experts at Rheinmetall Defense.

At the recent Eurosatory defense expo in Paris – consider it the Geneva Motor Show of military hardware – Rheinmetall unveiled its conversion options for the Volkswagen Amarok, transforming the four-door short-bed civilian pickup truck into a Light Multi-Purpose Vehicle for military applications.

The options list includes a reinforced suspension, advanced communications systems and an automated, motorized turret for a machine gun or grenade launcher. (The actual firearms are another, matter, of course.) Military and paramilitary buyers can order theirs with a variety of engines ranging up to 177 horsepower, with either six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions.

Somehow, we're guessing that even if this Volkswagen does show up in Canada as is being discussed, we don't see our neighbors to the north getting these sorts of optional extras.

I am wondering why it says it’s the last thing I would want to see in my neighbors drive way!! I wish I had cool neighbors like that!

Wouldnt my next door neighbors take notice? You sic your miserable wife & her dog on me, I take a drive around the block. Lol this really does look like something Holder would give the cartels to track where they go..OR maybe BO would give his buddies "the MB". .but seriously? We AZ residents who believe in 2nd amendment should be outfitted w/them since we arent allowed to be protected so says our jackasses in charge

Frankly, it looks no different then most of the trucks on the road in my neck of the woods...somewhere in the deeeeeep South. The only noticeable difference I can see is no self-respecting "good ol boy" would be caught dead in a VW "truck", and I use that term very lightly.

Ford Raptor, beautiful truck, if the average person can afford it. It seems as if the auto manufactures test all new vehicles in overseas countries before introducing them to America. Ford Transit Connect, Ford Fiesta etc. I was ready to by the new Jeep truck, all aluminum with four cylinder diesel and tons of torque. Ford Ranger put everything the consumer wanted in it and sent it overseas, Australia; no longer sold in USA. I would definitely consider the new VW Truck. Something has gotta be goin on that these vehicles aren't getting to us?

The reason they don't come here is that we have the MOST restrictive EPA requirements in the world. Volkswagon has some fantastic diesel technology but once you add all the EPA requirements it ruins the fuel economy and power. Until we reign in the EPA this will not change.

Ford stoped the production of the Ranger. A big mistake it should have improved the gas milage of the truck and it would have sold like hot cakes

With that kind of ground clearance, park it in Detroit and the catalytic converter will be gone in w-a-a-a-y under 2 minutes. It is probably under-gunned also.

yea illegal for you UNLESS your the world elite then of course they can have all they want to shoot 50 cal rounds 10 miles skipping across asphalt in-case they feel threatened cops are not good enough ! are you really just over this or what ? and your Fed income tax buys these big boys toys as not dollar goes to our Gov paper clips or battle ships why ? because they need to keep raising your home and gas and other taxes to pay for battle ships costing a million clams a day ! Bilderburgs are setting up the game plan through the UN using obama to disarm us SO only they will have these dangerous offensive DEpopulation units roaming your streets as soon as the US defaults in the BK you the Debtor will go to prison as the Const. only protects you if in effect but its going to be suspended by yours truly ! "Poor man's Humvee". Am I the only one posting so far who remembers all the "mil-spec'd" pickup trucks the US Army had before they got the Humvee? SSDD, folks, except for the gun mount.
