There are lots of fringe benefits to building or buying an electric vehicle. While eliminating the need to visit gas stations probably ranks at the top of our list, a close second might be the opportunity to run hot laps at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca during Refuel. Hosted by Speed Ventures, this event also offers competitive types the chance to win SportElectric Time Trial trophies.

The action isn't limited to the track. The pits are sure to have a great assortment of vehicles to look at and interesting people to talk to. Past years have seen the WrightSpeed X1, the AC Propulsion TZero and lots of Tesla Roadsters make appearances. This year, we can only imagine what prototype or production machine might make come out to play.

Scroll down for the Refuel promotional video along with clips of a Nissan Leaf demonstrating the short way around the iconic circuit and the Kleenspeed EV-X11 laying down a record-breaking lap. You can sign up to take part yourself on the Refuel website.

Interesting that I called Sears Point and Thunder Hill and they cannot or won't accommodate J1772 plug-in EVs. How do you recharge at LS?

REFUEL set up temporary NEMA 14-50 outlets for charging. You will need to bring your portable EVSE

EZEE, Though it was glitched some time back, the tip line (http://green.autoblog.com/contact/tips/) has been fixed and is a better way to get our attention. We all receive an email directly that way and one of us is more likely to take up the suggestion.
