Woman Arrested After Taking Ambulance For Joyride
Still unclear how she managed to steal it
Police in Buffalo, N.Y. arrested a 37-year-old, highly intoxicated woman Sunday morning after she allegedly stole an ambulance.
According to WGRZ, the woman was brought to the hospital ER due to her intoxication. She escaped the building and somehow stole a Rural Metro ambulance that was sitting outside.
Police were on her tail almost instantly. After she lost control of the vehicle in a traffic circle, she slammed into a brick wall surrounding the parking lot of a local Walgreens drugstore.
"Thank God she missed the building ... The brick wall stopped her, otherwise, she would have definitely [crashed] into the building," Amherst Police Senior Investigator Scott Lawida told WGRZ.
The woman has been arrested and is charged with reckless endangerment, grand larceny and criminal possession of a stolen vehicle, among other charges.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the ordeal, but the ambulance was heavily damaged.
