Automobile Magazine scribe Jason Cammisa was sent into the desert to referee four carbon-fiber-bodied wild animals fighting it out over the quarter mile: the V8 McLaren MP4-12C, the V10 Lexus LFA, the V12 Lamborghini Aventador and the W16 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport. It's a tough job, innit?

The Head 2 Head race was run elimination style, with the winner of each two-up challenge facing the next devil up the totem pole. Although you might not have any doubts about the eventual victor, how each of these supercars fared is good watching. See all the screaming for yourself in the video below.

      "Exotics aren't meant for drag racing".. Blah blah blah. I enjoyed the video. How often do you get to see a showdown between such automotive royalty? The LFA looks and sounds fantastic to me, there is something so appealing about the off pitch wail of a V10. The Mclaren looks good in its own right, and then surprises with a brawny V8 note closer to American muscle than you'd expect. The Bugatti looks monolithic like something left behind by an ancient civilization, and the sound is equally as foreign and imposing. And my personal favorite is the Lambo; batshit crazy looks, an exhaust note so refined yet brutal at the same time and a launch/shifts that'll drain the blood from your face.

        Nothing beats the sound of the LFA, but the Lamborghini comes a very close second, while oozing twice as much "supercar" vibe and about a whole second quicker in the 1/4 for the same price. Oh, and its upshifts are so violent in Corsa mode you might think you got rear ended every time you flick the paddle. That's pretty badass too.

      I won't pretend to know which one of these amazing cars would suit my particular driving tastes, as I havnt experienced anything close to any of them, unfortunately. However, I do own a good set of eyes, and the Aventador is undeniably the best looking of the bunch. The Veyron is beginning to show its age, though still looks like nothing else out there, which is a good thing. The MP4-12C has always reminded me of a 360 Modena, which is just not sharp enough for 2012. The LF-A has been a disapointment since it debuted, and while the back end is tolerable, that front is simply unacceptable. Reminds me of Pikachu for some reason. "Toyota Boring" definately leached into the design. But the Aventador? Oh, the Aventador. So beautiful. Front 3/4 view is worth the price of the vehicle.

      SSC Ultimate Aero would beat all 4 of those cars easily!
        • 3 Years Ago
        Agreed Bugatti is too afraid to put their car against the Aero.

          and the Ariel Atom would smoke that.

      Wow If I could just have a quick ride on any of them. Btw, the Lexus has a sick sound.

      Super car drag race video that DOESN'T have a GT-R involved? *gasp!* Seriously though, that Lambo is simply amazing.
        • 3 Years Ago
        GT-R does not have a carbon fiber body so it does not meet the requirements for this comparison.

      the veyron could have done better with the air brake off

      ALL HAIL VLAD the IMPALER!!! but that Lambo is definitely the best thing to come out of Italy since Elisabetta Canalis.

      That was kind of a unfair race, a 1 million plus dollar veyron vs a 320k aventador. What they should have had is a koenigsegg agera r racing it.

        @Danny Barreto
        While conceptually, I agree with you, aren't they even harder to come by than Veyrons? Might not have been possible.

      Surprised it was that close. That Lambo is quick.

      All cool cars. A few thoughts though. First, The Aventador is a B_A_D_A_S_S. It literally looks like a jet fighter. Not pretending to be one, not insprired by one, it looks liek one (except the wings and 20 inch wheels of course...) Not since the Coutach 5000s have I cared so much about a Lambo. Second, that was a seriously OVERproduced piece of film. The editor got a new software suite and set about using every effect that came with the new update.
