Our spy photographers appear to have grabbed the first glimpse at Jaguar's upcoming F-Type R. Judging by the not-so-subtle "F" camouflage and quad exhaust outlets, odds are this is the more high-strung version of the next convertible from Jaguar. What exactly is under the hood? That remains to be seen, though early reports suggest its something other than the tried-and-true blown 5.0-liter V8 we've come to know and love. The base F-Type will get along with a turbocharged V6, and the brawnier R model will likely bow with something packing eight cylinders and power figures in the neighborhood of 500 horsepower.

So, when can we get our hands on this creation? A final launch date is murky at best, though there is some indication Jaguar could hold onto the V8 F-Type until later in the model's lifecycle, but doesn't quite dovetail with the fact that Jaguar is already road-testing the machine. Chances are we'll see the F-Type R earlier than expected.

      Actually hoping it's a supercharged V6 for the F-Type 'R'. Much lighter than a V8.

Are you kidding me? Looks like a 93 Chevy Caprice. I just saw the new Lamborghini, I'd rather have a Yugo. What the hell are they thinking. People gotta up their standards, every car has looked the same since Cab Forward was designed in the early nineties. I wanted to design a car that would be sold for about $15 grand, but looked like a real ferrai or a late 60's musclecar. why do they not do this. the metal and macchines to shape it would cost the same amount, and the engines would be no worse than the average car today, and they would make a killing. What is stopping this? I mean years ago there was a company that took the Pontiac Fiero chassis and bolted a Countach body onto it, and while I wouldnt enter any races with it, it damn sure turned some heads. People should stop being sheep and demand better, or we will have more of these Ferrari Caprices.

Sorry Jaguar Caprices. Another thing is that when you go to an auto show, the stuff is amazing, I would kill to have any one of those concept vehicles, yet they never get built. WHY? What is holding this back? I guess they cant understand the concept of Concept.
