Every year on Holocaust Remembrance Day, the people of Israel take two minutes to honor those who died in the Holocaust. When the sirens go off, everything stops, including traffic. This year, the two-minute ceremony was unfortunately marked with a pair of accidents due to the abrupt stop in traffic.

The Times of Israel reports that a woman in her 60s was run over as she was standing outside her car and another was struck as she stood by her vehicle on the highway. Both women were hurt badly enough to require medical attention and the older woman was listed in serious condition.

The incidents scarred an already solemn occasion, but after watching the post-jump video, we're surprised more people aren't injured. Scroll down to watch the unorganized chaos of freeway drivers pulling over at different times. Just as unorganized is the minute after the sirens stop, when everyone seems to want to leave as quickly as possible.

How about a moment of silence for all the Arab victims of the colonialist Jewish state (so called Israel) ?

Maybe we should also have a moment of silence for all the victims of the Israeli state : Palestinians, Lebanese, Syrians, and Egyptians who died for the liberation of Arab lands stolen from them by the Israelis.

The Israelis fought and won their lands. The Arabs lost, end of story. So why don't the Arabs take the lands back? They cannot, the Arabs get their asses kicked every time!!

And the hallmark of every civilized nation is the people helping each other and kicking the asses of the weak for personal gain. Both the Israelis and Muslims are infantile in their behavior.

The Israelis seem to be sociopathic, only feeling for their own losses, with no apparent concern, whatsoever, for the daily pain and grief they dole out to Palestinians.

Spiel, go to a school in Israel and what do they teach there? Peace. It is a huge subject of a lot of children's songs, lessons, morals, that we were taught growing up. Seriously, go there and see for yourself. Go to a Palestinian school and what do they teach there? Go find the answers and then tell me how you feel. A MOTHER received $23 to send her mentaly disabled son into Israel as a suicide bomber. Does that make any sense to you?

I'm sorry, but how many times have you been to Israel? Or Gaza? Have you seen what they do to EACH OTHER? That is frankly MUCH more sad than what Israel is doing. Oh, you got your facts from CNN? I got it from living there.

You are vile human garbage to spread any false accusations like that! You are the type of person that should be carted off to extermination. And I sincerely mean that in every possible way. Put your real name up when you write white-trash uneducated slop shi!-for-brains mind farts. Oh wait, you're a coward too. Stay in your living hell and get off this blog you troglodyte.

I want to be clear that I was not being glib about you deserving to be carted off. I really do think the inexcuseably stupid don't deserve to live on this over-crowded world. All holocaust denial comes from pure stupidity and it is so unforgiveable as to disqualify one from life. I want to be clear because I may run for office someday. :)

I think if you take a look at Joshua and Judges in the bible you will see that their god told them to go into towns to kill everyone and destroy all their possessions.

I deny the houlocast too, calm down. Some of us read about history and we have our own opinions. Jewish people aren't exactly angels themselves. Go read a little before talking.. I'm guessing your jewish since you don't like "whites". Anyways if you believe that many Jews lived in Europe I have no words for you, and somehow the number goes up every year. I feel for the innocent people, but the isreali government is very very dirty.

@ art - My grandfather had 6 brothers and sisters and two parents. All 8 of them were murdered in the war. You deny this? You are ignorant. Take a trip to Europe - look at those memorials that have ovens, gas chambers. Wait, you probably never left your hole in the woods, so try a little trip to Boston and go see the memorial there - all the numbers are printed. And lets not forget the other 5 million who were also killed. You deny this, you are the first step to doing the same.

and because of the Holocaust they have the right to kill the Arabs!!!!!!!!! I know that they did suffer which is bad but that does not mean that they are allowed to spread evil in the middle east, and by the way Arabs do not hate Jewish, and Jewish have no historical right in Palestine because Arabs where there even before Jewish. so Arabs just defend their land.

I'm sorry, but being from there, I disagree and I can tell you its quite amazing to see a whole country respect its history. The only way we respect history here is by having memorial day sales. This is just a really really stupid article. Two accidents in a country of about 7.5M is not really news either.

The siren put me in a trance state. It was very moving for me to see the respect these people show. We (US) are too caught up in our lives to do this sort of thing, unfortunately.

Wait, what? Every time an emergency vehicle goes by we pull over, just like this. Compare that to Europe, where the emergency drivers are given courtesy, but arbitrarily pulling over is a no-no.

I agree. This is bound to kill many innocent people which just ruins the whole idea, imo. Most people who want to observe the minutes could plan to be off the road at that time. Those who must travel may memorialize at a different time that day. There just has to be a better way of doing this.
