Land Rover is using the Beijing Motor Show to reveal a special edition Range Rover Evoque with Victoria Beckham – not "created with" or "by," just "with." It was announced almost a year ago, but Posh Becks has been busy doing the kinds of things keep a woman called Posh busy.

LR has made a vid to support the cause, but it stretches the definition of "teaser" since it's more like 17 seconds of Fashion TV meets Tron in monochrome, bracketed by titles. If you look really closely, you might even see the Evoque in it. Scroll down to check it out.

      what marketing moron decided to associate this sour **** with land rovers? when i was growing up, land rovers and even range rovers signified utility, reliability and integrity. simple machines with old world values. prospecting for minerals in the kalahari? get a landy. searching for dinosaur remains in the gobi? get a landy. got to drop off some vaccines in the jungles of the congo? get a landy. this *!&{} %$@## represents the antithesis of what the brand represented. nothing turns buyers like me away from land rover products as much as associating with this plastic, superficial, hollow caricature of a human being (well that and abysmal reliability ratings). looking at her smug, conceited face makes me want to throw up.

        It's about marketing, which is about moving as much product as possible. If you're going to extract dinosaur bones, buy a Hilux, Land Cruiser or Jeep. If you need something to drive to Barney's to pick up a fresh suit to wear to your lunch with Posh - buy an Evoque. Posh and I will be waving and laughing at you from our table while you throw up.           the problem is that associating your corporate brand with a fad can bite you. fashion and buzz trends are fleeting, whereas companies have to endure. i can tell from the association with posh that land rover is not interested in my business and is instead chasing the soccer mom crowd. speaking as someone who in the past few years has owned two range rovers, two disco's and actually bid on an evoque on ebay (i bid $43k for a demo one - for teh wife), i am this >.< close to permanently turning my back on the brand. that's how much much i despise the shallow popular culture that posh embodies, to me it is as if land rover had signed on that kardashian woman. they are equivalent in their irrelevance to me.

          btw, you don't want a jeep. not that there's anything wrong with them, but land rover have a global parts supplier network for those times when you snap an axle or break a transfer case.
