Kia has released the first commercial for the upcoming K9. The flagship sedan is set for a South Korean launch later this year, and details are beginning to emerge about the big four door. Power is said to come from either a 296 horsepower 3.3-liter V6 or a 3.8-liter V6 with 329 hp. The model will also be a showcase for new tech, including adaptive LED headlights that not only track with the steering mechanism but also adjust with the vehicle's speed to give the driver a greater field of view.

Indoors, a full-color heads-up display provides plenty of pertinent information, and an epic 12.3-inch screen in the dash handles the entertainment interface. Judging from the three photos released alongside the new ad, the K9 will also feature a gear lever inspired by the likes of BMW. Here's hoping the Kia piece is a bit more intuitive. Scroll down to check out the ad for yourself.

Those steering wheel controls are terrible, is that a knob on the right side? Looks like some kinda weird 80's concept that never got going. I will say, I rather like the headlights they have a neat style and some cool safety elements.

It actually doesn't look as much like a BMW 7-Series as it did in the earlier post that Autoblog had a few weeks ago. I'm not going to write off this car until I see it in person. All things aside, it DOES look nice.

Beautiful car + Affordable price = Lots of sales. A lot of people admire BMW for their looks or performance, but it rarely translates into sales. Useless for BMW. Just like a lot of construction workers whistling at a sexy woman, just like window shopping. All bark and no bite. Kia and Hyundai are selling a lot of cars because they make beautiful cars affordable.

We're proud to present the best knock-off we've ever built, ladies and gentlemen. With the K9 we broke the mold. Not only did we shamelessly copy the good stuff, no, we even copied BMW's counterintuitive R-N-D layout.

Sorry but nothing about this reminds me of a BMW 7 Series. Maybe you guys are looking at pics somewhere else that I haven't seen? If anything it looks like a bigger Optima with the new corporate Hyundai mouth. Either way, it looks pretty sweet to me.

Why didn't they just call it the KIA BMW instead of the KIA K9?
