The Mythbusters have finally tackled the long-unanswered question, "Why don't cars have square wheels?"

What's that? You've never wondered why? Neither have we, because it's freaking obvious. But equally obvious is how awesome it would be to test out a square-wheeled vehicle anyway, which is exactly what the Mythbusters guys did, using an older Ford F-Series pickup.

While the full episode is not available online, you can get the gist of the segment by watching the eight clips Discovery has posted, which we've conveniently organized for your viewing pleasure below.

The silliest things drag out discussions about Toyota on this blog. I was seeing this in the stupid, little wiper blade recall that Ford had. Why so many comments about Toyota and the Tundra? Is it because of the bed flex? Good, now everybody can see the truck that many people love, and the truck that many love to hate, aren't as different as they'd like to believe. Come on guys, stop fighting about these automakers like a bunch of childish fanboys.

I'm sure there were a couple of proud Ford engineers watching. "See! It _is_ tough!"

I knew there would be some people on here who would say, "why would you test square wheels, they don't work!" Obviously, it's just for a humorous test. Some people need to get over their own perceived importance.

I laughed when the rearview mirror fell off the windshield.

The square wheel is fine, they just have the wrong type of road. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e5/Rolling-Square.gif

After 24" tires go out of style just as spinners did, lo-pro square wheels will be the next gangsta fad.

Awesome... When these pickup truck articles are published, these herds of hillbillies gather and praise american pickups can beat the riceburning wannabe pickups. How irrelevant is that? LOL. "BUY AMERICAN !".... go shoot some cans in the backyard or off the cab of your peepee extenders for christs sake. The internet isn't for you guys.

IMO, the other half of the episode with Kari, Grant and Tory was much more fun. Though I'd be lying if I said it wasn't because of Kari :P

It's much better on mute. You don't have to hear the "oh yeah, faster, faster!" over and over. I'd like to see them try triangular wheels. I miss they days of rocket-powered Impalas.
