Dodge has used the New York Auto Show to show off its new Challenger Rallye Redline, which was announced at The Spring Festival, a small-scale event held in Southern California for Mopar LX fans and owners. Besides being seen by those select few, this is the coupe's first public showing.

Powered by the same 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 305 horsepower and 268 pound-feet torque as the base model, this machine gets a performance boost via an upgraded suspension package called the Super Sport Group. Updates include firmer front and rear shocks, larger front and rear sway bars, wider P245/45R20 Firestone Firehawk tires and steering that's 25-percent quicker.

As you can see, there are also a bunch of exterior tweaks, including the big red stripe down the center, red-striped 20-inch wheels with a Pitch Black treatment and a body-color rear spoiler. Inside, the exclusive availability of heated front performance seats in Radar Red leather is the biggest news, but Dark Slate Grey is also available. The optional Exterior hues are Bright Silver Metallic, Tungsten Metallic, Bright White and Pitch Black.

Want one? Dodge says the Challenger Rallye Redline will be available this month starting at $28,745 (plus $925 for destination). See the machine yourself in our high-res image gallery of live photos above.

I know it'll sound trite, but could we have this in a Hemi?

Can we get a Challenger that is not a stop light racer? everyone I have test driven so far does not give me the warm and fuzzy around the twistys. I am not a fan of the CTS-V's looks, but I may get one because the Challenger continues to disappoint unless you like drag racing.

Pretty nice for a $29k car. But no manual, no sale.

I'm a die-hard old-school Mopar fan, but there is no way i would buy one of these overweight pigs, especially not a V6 when they apparently don't offer it with a manual trans like the Camaro and Mustang V6 models.

You really blew it by not putting the 8 speed auto and a 6 speed manual in this car.

So your sole buying decision is being based on the transmission? Your question was answered back on 3/26 in this article: http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/26/dodge-unveils-challenger-rallye-redline-at-spring-fest/ SInce you won't buy this car, what are you buying?

I don't see anything in the SMALL APPLE even close to the Spring Festival. When you have an event that comes close then maybe you can talk till then keep it to yourself.

If they could just shave a few hundred pounds off of it.....and add an extra gear or three.

I agree the 6 is pretty tame, but at 58 and just feeling good looking at this car reminds me of a song and it went this way Twenty years now Where'd they go? Twenty years I don't know Sit and I wonder sometimes Where they've gone And sometimes late at night When I'm bathed in the firelight The moon comes callin' a ghostly white And I recall I Recall So I will take my ride in SXT AND JUST FEEL GOOD Like a rock. standin' arrow straight Like a rock, chargin' from the gate Like a rock, carryin' the weight Like a rock Lihe a rock, the sun upon my skin Like a rock, hard against the wind Like a rock, I see myself again Like a rock
