When it was made public last summer that Richard Hammond was unhappy with his lot in life on Britain's Top Gear, insiders said he would "get the bigger, more defined role that he deserves." We don't know yet what's in store for him during Series 18 of TG, but it appears he definitely has a bigger role in his new BBC America series, Richard Hammond's Crash Course.

The show puts Hammond in all manner of big vehicles with the apparent intention of running over all manner of little vehicles. It premieres on April 16 right after the season premiere of Top Gear, and there's a much more exciting explanation of it in the official BBC trailer after the jump.

Typical Hammond delivery of speech, and there's nothing wrong with that. At least he can finally whiten his teeth and not feel ashamed of doing so. Oh, and no... Top Gear UK is still superior to USA whose hosts have the combined personality of two week old wet newspaper covered in wet leaves with discarded gum inside. Need more James May shows though, that's for sure.

Troll. Top Gear US is fun to watch, people don't need your approval to enjoy it.

Travisty, that's because people like you are trying to compare the original to it, which shouldn't happen. They're obviously 2 different shows.

@Elmo Agreed. Or it could just be that Travisty is a misogynistic and loves heavy-handed words like travisty and hideous and looks for any opportunity to use them. Or he could just be a typical bitchy Brit.

He crushed a first gen Mustang and a Porsche 928 with a tank. To me, that's like running over puppies. Fail, Hamster...

Kind of like how it was predictable that you were going to snap and make an Elmo name and go around for 3 weeks straight and try to make me look bad and it not actually working?

I mainly enjoy watching Top Gear UK because of their awesome cinematography. I'll never forget their segment on the Aventador. But it is odd how TGUSA is getting better.

He destroyed a Mustang and a 928 in the trailer... This looks like it might piss me off as much as Mythbusters has pissed me off when they destroy good cars, including a Plymouth Belvedere and a Fiat X1/9.

Its a regular mustang, not a fastback otherwise I will be pissed too. This show is not for us Americans.

It doesn't matter if it's a fastback or not. It's still a Mustang from that era.

Every "American" house has an early 70's Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight in their driveway in 2012, right?
