It is expected that the BMW 4 Series – which will be what we used to call the 3 Series coupe and convertible – is expected to be revealed sometime later this year. Nevertheless, it still has much to hide, since it's wearing the same amount of all-sheathing camouflage as when we saw it four months ago.

This is the convertible version, and it is figured to be the new 3 Series with a few tweaks at the front. It is capped by a folding hardtop and presumably uses the same engines offered in the 3. When the camo does come off, we're anxious to see if the lower front intake really does retain the shape of a Wallace-and-Grommit smile.

      Does this mean we will say goodbye to the iconic "M3" name and hello to the M4?

      I heard BMW is becoming extremely profitable in China. If they're smart, they won't call it the 4 Series there. The word "4" sounds like the word "die" and the Chinese/Cantonese think it's bad luck. It's the equivalent of calling it the 666-Series here in the US.

        @wat
        Does Audi have any problem selling A4s there? Just wondering. But yeah, 4 is a big nono for Chinese. 8 is lucky, however. Any chance of BMW pulling off an all new 8 series, rivalling the Mercedes CL?

      I feel like BMW just wants to fillin the numbers between 1 and 7! What market is 4 Series suposed to target exactly? midsize-4 door-coupe?

      I like the sound of 3 Series Coupe better than 4 Series.

      Prepare to be amazed by the novelty of a 4-series 4-door coupe in a couple of years.

        It's just the covering. Real headlights look something like the new F30 3-series.

      RIP 428. You were once the call numbers of the legendary Ford. Now, you are now only known as a mass-market 4 cylinder.
