See those two cars in the background, over the left shoulder of the talking head? They are in the process of crashing into one another, right there, live on the air. We're not sure what's more shocking, the crash or the reporter's reaction, which is to, well, stand there.

What's perhaps most interesting about this strange occurrence is that it points out the ridiculousness of many local TV news reports. Every day, reporters are sent out to stand in front of buildings to deliver live news reports about events that are not happening live.

Occasionally, as in this situation, some news actually does break out.

Most reporters have to deal with sirens/horns and idiots constantly trying to interrupt or get on camera. They're told to remain professional at all times. So I'm not surprised she acted this way! Although if anyone here is familiar with the WGN Morning News show out of Chicago, they would have been like AWWWW DAAAAMN! Best news crew ever.

Agreed. I honestly think she was just trying to remain professional and calm while live on the air. She would mostly likely react differently had the camera been off.

Agreed. Pretty unnerving to see people attributing this to the fact that she's a woman. These people have to deal with idiots every time they go out to do a report. That inevitably makes them pretty immune to distractions around them.

That reporter must have one hell of an ass to distract a driver like that.

Now that you mention how retarded it is for example, a reporter to go stand in front of a gas station just to report on raising gas prices ---- I must agree, that it is extremely pointless. Placing a gas pump from an MS Word Clip Art collection in the corner while reporting from the studio is just as effective.

The two reporters are professionals. When they are on the air reporting on TV , they are not to be distracted by background noise or activities.

What's that!? You mean to tell me that the gas prices at the gas station are going up before I get there and see that myself!? Thanks, how convenient...
