The new-generation 2012 Actros big rig has already won Truck of the Year – for the fourth time – and Mercedes-Benz figured it would have some fun letting other truck people know about its semi. It kitted an Actros out in the eggshell hue and black-and-yellow sign that's standard-issue German taxi livery, then sent it out to pick up passengers.

The hook? Some of these passengers were waiting outside competing truck companies like MAN and Volvo, and were a little surprised at the arrival of their seven-ton chariot. Follow the jump to see it in action.

      Daimler really nailed it by giving people the opportunity to ride in a nice new truck and experience something so different from the usual cab ride. Das Deutsche volk really do some cool stuff.

      My cousin has 3 Actros semi's in Ireland, it's amazing how car like they are (relatively speaking) compared to what we have over here in North America. Very cool commercial Mercedes!

      I thought this was going to be a one-off, pimped out Actros with a giant lounge/cabin area over the rear.

      Americans think that Mercedes cars are the ultimate ride. But they use them in Germany as taxis. They don't deserve the awe they generate. I'll take a Lincoln any day.

        @automan5913
        They use them as taxis because in Germany BMW and Mercedes are the domestic makes. Their cars are well built, powerful, generally good to drive, and there they're cheap to maintain.

        They use Mercedes cause a Lincoln wouldn't last one week as a taxi. Think again.
