Texas-based DeLorean Motor Company is looking to redefine the iconic DMC-12 conceived by John Z. DeLorean over 3 decades ago. While its pop-culture status as the "Back to the Future car" will never change, the DMC-12's reputation for surprisingly poor performance can certainly be addressed. With some help from Epic EV, the folks at DeLorean have swapped the car's original 130 hp V6 for an all-electric powertrain that produces 260 max hp and is reported to go from 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds. That's certainly one way to transport the stainless steel, gull-winged wonder from the past into the future.

I heard about the unbelievable deals that people claimed they got from penny auctions. I was curious about how these auctions worked, so I signed up for a BBB Accredited Penny Auction site with a good reputation called BidCactus ( http://tinyurl.com/BestBargainAuctions ). Apparently, Penny auctions work by having people purchase a bid package. Usually you get anywhere from 100-500 bids in a bid package, and you use up these bids by bidding on an item you want. Everytime someone places a bid on an item, the price of the item goes up by one penny. Taking a look through the items on BidCactus, I was surprised by how many of them were really expensive products (Sony TV's, New iPhone's, etc.) that were going for really cheap. What you do is place a Bid on the item you want and this increases the bid timer by 10 seconds. To win an item you have to be the last bidder when the timer hits 0. So my strategy to win a penny auction for a new Apple Ipad 2 was to wait until the timer hit 20 seconds left, and then start placing my bids on it. I waited patiently while the timer counted down, and once it hit that 20 second mark, I started placing my bids. I placed about 15 bids before the timer finally hit zero and I won! I was beyond excited, because the price of the item was only $11. That means, after spending 15 bids and having to purchase the new iPhone 4S, I only had to spend a total of Under $25!

Northstar is a crap engine. Powerful, but made from oragami paper... a mechanic's best friend and meal ticket. Give it an LS1 out of a Corvette.

If this car can only go 70 to 100 miles and then runs out of power it damn sure will not be worth the money they will be asking. 100K? Ridiculous!!!

Nice idea. Of course, personally if I were to potentially buy a new DMC product, I would prefer it to be a hybrid as opposed to straight electric. That way, one could get the best of both worlds in terms of range and torquey performance. I have never been crazy about straight electric for 75 to 100 mile range, or 200 on the outside (and having to pay the electric bill instead of the gasoline bill). When I drive a car, I like the open road for many miles and being able to fuel up and continue to go as opposed to waiting 6 to 10 hours for a charge (then a 800 mile trip by electric might take 5 days instead of just 13 hours). At least with a hybrid one can do that.

If GM was allowed to go Bankrupt, you would have seen this story times 10 with other car guys buy rights to Pontiac, Olds, Saturn, Hummer. Obama killed all the deals. There is a reason this company is in Texas.

The performance sucks and they want 100k for it? Good luck with that.
