Audi has started a new roadside billboard advertising campaign in the U.S. to promote the fact that people are buying the R8 GT supercar. The billboards, like this one erected in Lake Forest, Illinois, alert the good townsfolk that an R8 GT has been purchased within their city limits. In red is the warning, "Slow traffic keep right," which could also just as easily say, "Rob him while he's out driving."

Great ad! Although I think that "Slower traffic keep right" billboards should be PSAs on all major freeways. Comatose drivers parked in the left lane are my biggest pet peeve and I'm convinced are one of the greatest contributors to traffic congestion. If people would just follow the rule that if traffic to your right is going the same speed or faster than you are, move over, traffic would flow much more smoothly.

In Texas, the interstates have signs saying "Left Lane for Passing Only." You can actually get a ticket for hanging out in the left lane.

That's nice, in California to go fast you need to test the slalom capability of the car at highway speed. There is always people with "I'm going speed limit and you can go around me speeders!" mentality here and there. I suggest start putting 6" spikes on front bumpers to dissuade such behavior in the future.

To the other commenters... Don't worry, Texas is no better. Nobody actually gets pulled over for hanging out in the left lane, unfortunately. And, in the large cities like Dallas and Houston, it's as bad as or worse than California, assuming roads with similar traffic. I've driven both places extensively.

ChrisDPrice, that might be true in general, but some of my friends have been pulled over - only warned, though. I think the signs have at least cut down on the behavior, at least on the interstates. In-city highway driving is always a crap shoot.

That is great, J! I wish California was as enlightened as Texas in that regard! It seems that most people here are completely oblivious to the fact that the left lane is intended for passing.

funny but also a bit obnoxious in a "hey look at my new car and get out the way" kind of way. Not helping Audi's image of the d-bag driver's new brand of choice.

Clearly the two people responding above me havent driven on a public roadway since 1997.

Yeah, that would be BMW's image, not Audi's. Nice try though.

He's right, BMW is busy competing with Lexus and catering to soccer moms; it is no longer the "driver"'s brand of choice.

They should put "Slow traffic Keep right" signs everywhere. Maybe make them the law as well? (or enforce it) Since I find me tailgating most people when I'm driving in my MKV R32

That'd be kind of awkward for the owner if he happens to drive by the sign. And can I just say I really hate the wheels on the R8GT? They are hideous. I don't even mind the spoiler that much (though ask me and I'd say the normal R8 is the best looking)

Talk about the ultimate ego feed for those who purchase a car! To know that an entire billboard is talking about your purchase is quite an ego feed!

Not sure Lake Forest will see this GT because: Don't they have at least 4 more months of winter there and it's probably going to stay in its garage and only be seen at Audi club events. just saying

50 degrees here today. Was in the city for NYE and saw a V10 R8 following a Viper ACR. Haven't seen the R8 GT but this sign has been up for a few months now.
