The Dubai Autodrome will play host to a very special guest for the 2012 Dunlop 24 Hours of Dubai race.

In addition to the scads of GT3-spec BMW Z4s, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMGs, Ferrari 458 Italias and Porsche 911s, the pace car running in front of them will be none other than the Nissan Juke R.

The 480-horsepower GT-R/Juke mash-up hasn't made its debut in front of the public yet, so unless Nissan has a surprise up its sleeves before the race, which is scheduled for the weekend of January 12-14, this will be Juke R's coming out party. We won't be on hand to snag shots of the R in Dubai, but rumor has it that it could make its first Stateside appearance at the Chicago Auto Show.

Poor little Juke - even if people call you ugly you are beautiful on the inside.

I can't help but root this sort of ugly but cool thing on. Hope it beats all the supercars.

I can see some very clever marketing using the Juke R, they could get that guy that does the Dodge commercial voice overs. "They said I looked different, they said I did not belong. Now I beat the heart of Godzilla, so you tell me(insert chuckle) will they run for there lives?" I like this car, it's already a unique product taken to the next level, go Nissan!

I think this car is awesome...this kind of design never done before by any Japanese's car maker as production car....not talking about concept car :D

Ugly or not....it'll smoke your current car!!!! I want one and not because its pretty! I like it because it has that rebellious look to it....DARE TO BE DIFFERENT, DARE TO BE BOLD!!! Awesome work....now produce it in limited quantities!

Yikes it's the over powered offspring of a Pontiac Aztek and a Kia Soul! Still ugly no matter how you look at it.

What? In pacing a field of cars? PACE. Read the title over again.

While I'm all for unique creatures like this, without any plans for production or a even hotter version in the cards, it is no more different than someone stuffing a V8 into a Focus or something. Cool to look at, but I'll never have the chance to drive one or let alone own one. I'll tell you what Nissan. Make a factory version with this setup for a little under 30K and I'll bet they'll sell every last one of them.

I'll take a Juke with a VQ37VHR engine for under $30k. But good luck finding a VQ38DETT equipped Juke under $100,000, assuming it ever makes production in suitable numbers, which it wont.

The GT-R's engine is NOT a VQ engine.
