We can't get enough of the Boss Mustang 302, and it appears Ford Racing can't, either. Mustang Daily reports that Ford unleashed the newest member of the Boss family at the PRI show in Florida; the Boss 302SX. The Boss 302 concept is called the ultimate track car, and its stats tell the story.

The SX package delivers the updated looks of the 2013 model, and adds a bit more kick under the hood. The overhauled 5.0-liter V8 will reportedly crank out over 500 horsepower due to changes that include the same intake manifold as the 2013 Mustang Cobra Jet.

Mechanical upgrades also include an improved oil cooler, fuel system, adjustable coilover suspension and Ford Racing mufflers. Team Ford also made changes at all four corners with lightweight 18x9.5-inch wheels mated to racing slicks. And of course, Brembo brakes have been added all around and the interior features an FIA-spec six-point roll cage to protect whoever sits in the single Recaro seat behind the wheel.

Keep in mind that the Boss 302SX is just a concept for now, but all we can see is a serious track star that is begging for production.

      shows the potential of the car/ drivetrain to say the least, but lets not forget, before loyalists and the usual bashers go off on tangents...ITS A CONCEPT....pretty awesome one though.

        Ford has made a racing version of the normal car for quite some time now, it would be beyond bizzare if they suddenly stopped for 2013.

        This is more than a concept, though. This is going to be Ford's entry into SCCA World Challenge, along with the Mustang spec series.

          Right, where SCCA will continue to stack specs to give the Mustang a level playing field against most euro competitors. You consider yourself a car person? Get educated

        Hm really? I don't think it's all that bad. I mean, it's supposed to be a track car.

        To each his own. I like the striping and the color. It's a great throwback to the 1970 Boss 302.

      Another perfect example of antiquated American engineering trying to compete with Germany et al...gas, gas, gas just don't try and brake or turn. If I won one I would give it away. GARBAGE!!!

        Oh and by the way, the 2011-2012 Mustang GT can keep up with the current BMW M3 around a track. I wouldn't be wrong by saying that the Boss 302 Laguna Seca would fair well against the M3 GTS.

        So just because Grand Am is owned by The Frances, they run NASCAR rules? Are you kidding me? Or are you really that retarded? Go read up on the rules before assuming you know what you're talking about. You're seriously just as bad as Fried_Rice and Laser.

        A Chinese tranny with a blown way out of proportion issue? As I've said to many people before, this problem is being blown way out of proportion by the automotive media. Having been a Mustang forum member since 2008, I haven't heard any problems in the 2011-2012 Mustang GTs on the forum. Not once has someone ever posted a thread about their tranny letting go.

          @Elmo
          Maybe the reliability of the tranny is blown out of proportion, but that's not my main issue. I would just like the Mustang to be more American, at least North American. It's an American icon and should have more than 55% US/Canadian content. Particularly important components like the transmission. It's bad enough that it has Japanese seat belts, steering wheel, Chinese wheels, speakers and other components as well. When Japanese and Korean models have more than 55% US/Canadian content than the Mustang, I have issue with it.

          Captain, it may not be an issue for you, but it is for me and I would be less inclined to buy a Mustang because of it. I don't have a problem with the Euro engineered cars (Focus, Fiesta, Transit Connect) having Euro content, but a German designed Chinese transmission just doesn't make sense in a US engineered car. Environmentally or logistically. As far as I know, the Mustang is the only car it goes into. At least the Shelby 500 still uses the North American Tremec.

          That's unusual the online community doesn't see the tranny as a problem. I've had the exact opposite experience: with most enthusiast groups highlighting defects long before the auto press finds out. I don't know enough about the car's issue to have an opinion.... ....why hasn't your girlfriend Lorenzo posted something yet? Did you two break up?

      It's nice to know the current 5.0 mill can make great power stock. I'm glad it's NA and Ford should continue in this direction for the Boss and GT cars. The 2015 Mustang is going to get a bump in power - probably around 450 hp. I wouldn't be surprised if the next Boss 302 gets this motor or somewhere around 500 hp. 100 hp/L makes for great advertisement, especially in countries that are accustomed to higher strung motors. Anybody know if this motor is utilizing DI? I'm sure the 2015 car will come with it for better mileage and a slight bump in power. If Ford offers the next Boss street car with IRS and a 5.0L 100 hp/L screamer for the price of the current car, I will open my wallet and a crap load of import fan boys will too.

      So the engine is basically a derestricted 302R engine plus a CJ intake? Making 500+NA hp? I wonder if someone out there has the means to make themselves a streetable 302 with this intake making that power. With the GT500 now making 650hp, a 500hp Boss would be easy to do without stepping on the Shelby's toes in terms of output. What I would do for an 8000rpm 500hp black 2013 302 LS...
